Chipped a few teeth. Hard to see in crappy cell phone pic, but it's on the coast side, which would jive with my symptoms. At least it's better then the T-case.

See if you had the 4.0 you would never need the coast side of the gears 4.0 FTW

The "chipped" teeth are smooth and right by the cross pin. After checking with a gear shop, this is most likely a little sanding to clear the cross pin in the carrier. I will look closer tonight. Guess it's time to crack open the T-case. At least I'm getting a lot of wrench time in.

I ground down the teeth on my ring gear a little bit right there too.

Thanks! I'm running out of things to check that rotate, but at least I'm getting all the fluids changed. LOL

It's running. The range selector fork was all chewed up, a la GSW 2010. The T-case was full metal shavings, including the oil pump.

Not sure of the root case. The range selector fork that was put in at GSW 2010, might not have been out of a 231 or the oil pump might have died causing the failure at GSW 2010 or the oil pump died later after the repair at GSW 2010 or I'm destined to replace 231 parts when attending GSW....who knows.

I now have a new range selector fork (231 for sure), a new oil pump and new little bushings on both shift forks. Everything is squeeky clean and running smooth.

If it goes again, I'm swapping in another T-case, one with twin sticks. I guess that will be June of 2012, which gives me a year to save up. Now it's off to a frame straightening shop.

John, we should go do 21 road in it before you get the frame straightened.

Adjusted the doors today. Looks decent. I scoped out putting in some "mega" rail stiffeners and talked to a local guy about putting in a cage, but I'm going to hold that off until the winter. It's almost August and I don't want to loose the wheeling season.

I was driving the Jeep around this weekend, making sure everything is working, when my swing out tire carrier let go. The "hub" where the carrier pivots sheared off. Looking at the break, it's a long term fatique failure. Luckly the latch held and the carrier didn't take out the rear glass or eject off the back. I need to come up with a better concept or just put the tire back inside.

If it's not one thing, It's another!

I knew a guy who used a D30 hub and an outer shaft to pivot on...could give that a shot.
