Too bad we've got a small crowd again, but I'm ready. Been working 14+ HR days so I can't wait to get out of phone range.
Jeep is loaded, I'm planning to throw it on the trailer and head for camino tomorrow night, then drive up from there Friday. See you around 9?
Speaking of meeting up, considering I wasn't able to start with you guys last time I'm not familiar!
Where and whenish do you guys meet up?
Usually we meet at the spillway at loon lake at 9:00 I believe. I'll be rolling up from 50 on ice house.
I'm sure Ron will check in and confirm time.
Coolio, and just to make sure, that's PM right?
No, it's Friday AM
Ah! Haha ok glad I asked, I'll make it happen. I'm still going to have a few unfinished projects, but she'll be running like a top though
More like 7:00-8:00 am Friday morning at the loon lake overspill. I would like to get a early start because there is a group going in that morning. Shawn- is the girlfriend going?
Well seems like I'm going to be adding to the list of people not going... The in-laws were supposed to watch our daughter this weekend but apparently they forgot and booked them selves up doing something else. We were considering bringing her (wife is still trying to convince me it's a good idea) but at 10 months old she won't do well with camping aspect of the trip being that she is just beginning to walk but mostly crawls so we would have to carry her 100 percent of the time while at the camp which gets old VERY quickly based on our past camping trips. We have wheeled with her on several occasions all day long and she either had a blast and laughed/giggled all the time or just slept through most stuff, but seems like we'll have to wait until next year when she's a toddler. Can't bail on the wife as she REALLY wanted to go... oh well have fun and take a lot of pictures!
Fred R.
Ron, yes she is going, we'll shoot for 7 or so
Fred, too bad y guys couldn't make it, see you next year.
Ok tomorrow is the big day kicking off GSR 2011 are you there Ron? Wish I could have made it, but going back to work to pay for a Motorhome put a crimp in my plans and I was torn between GSR and the Ultra 4 Race this same weekend in Reno with some local guys I know racing there.
You all have a good time, be safe and I will hope I can make it next year with a new ZJ as the existing one is for sale.
See you guys tomorrow! I'm shooting for 7:15ish? See how it pans out
Oh and I don't know if I've mentioned it but I'll have a passenger as well, my cousin is riding along!
Holy small group Batman!
Wish we could have made it again this year. We decided to take a year off from wheelin and do lots of MTBing.
Maybe next year. We'll have to decide between GSR or Jeepers Jambo.
Post lots of pics guys.
I'll have new rubber and some beadlocks.
Brett
Ok it is Monday, where are the photos guys?
Hope you can make it next year Brett, Kanin, Fred and everyone I haven't met! It was a small group, but it turned out awesome. We didn't have any issues with any of our trucks, and we didn't even have to break out the tow strap. It was a really nice trip at our own pace without any big suprises. We started at Loon around 8:30ish and got to our camp site in the springs between 4 and 5. That includes us spending a little time at Soupbowl so I could give it hell! Unfortunately I was getting rejected and wasn't going to risk breaking with our plan to run to the springs which was still almost half the trails length away from us haha. We only ran into traffic once between Big Sluice and Rubicon Springs, and on the way up Cadillac Hill heading out yesterday morning. We got the same spot on the slabs as last year, and were able to kick back and do whatever we wanted all Saturday, then packed up and cruised on out Sunday morning. Thanks again Ron and Shawn for the awesome trip!
Our camera didn't get brought out until camp, but we have a lot of video footage to go through!

That's awesome Greg. Can't wait to see pics and vid.
Your dovenosed front looks crazy. Probably have a nice view of the front tires now?
Brett
I LOVE how the dovenose came out, and I never have to worry about bumping the headlights and fenders any more . Unfortunately my view of the front tire sucks until I do something other than full doors, I just cant poke my head out far enough to see whats goin on
Here are a lot of the pics we had, Kyle put them together on this cool site:

A bit delayed, but Ron/Greg thanks for another great run through. It's always great to make it through without any real wrenching, and I had a blast going thru Old Big Sluice for the first time.
Well, I finally got a chance to do a once over on the Jeep and to download some pics.
First off, I didn't make it through totally unscathed. I did end up with some new body damage to the side of the jeep heading through Old Big Sluice, and as we were getting ready to break camp on Sunday, I found that I had finally broken the stock rear swaybar. This wasn't much of an issue as I had previously installed an old set of quick disconnects, so it was a quick pull and we were off.
This weekend, I had a chance to roll around and survey, and found something new. Somehow, I managed to break the caps on a U-joint, but somehow it stayed together and didn't explode. It did wallow out the ears on the shaft, but at least we didn't have to deal with an axle change on the trail. Here's my damage:
And for the trail pics, we did end up with a few good ones:
Nice pics Shawn. Wish we could have been there!
Those are some great pics. That pinched WJ looks mean!
Nice pics, looks like a blast.
