Wow that sucks Clay, sorry to hear that! So are you gonna fix it like Neil fixed his after it got wrecked?
I am really not sure. It looks like the axle took most of the hit, and I doubt it is still straight, I just hope my chromolly shafts and CTM joints are still OK. If the uni did buckle it is right at that frame side mount, but the driver door still opens and closes fine, so I am not sure.
The Lesboru took a beating!
That ARB saved my jeep for sure. I would really like to rebuild her, I have had that jeep since 1998, and it was my first vehicle purchase.
The cops said if that guy had been in a smaller car, say alowered civic, it would have killed him. So even though the kid was high, and was completely his fault, I am glad he was not injured.
I had thought about getting the new and improved doll to post on dollforum.com, but I am still debating!
The kid did have insurance, we will just have to see how much they will give me because I know they will try and screw me.
I am so glad none of us were in the jeep, or walking around for that matter, that kid had to be doing 40-50 mph in a 25mph neighborhood; he never even hit the brakes.
I need to get all of my receipts for all the stuff I bought. Thankfully I bought most of it from KOR, so I am going to see if they can send me another receipt.
If they try to screw you, just threaten a law suit. The last thing they will want is to get dragged into court and I'm guessing they would much rather settle out of court instead. They don't really have to much of a defense going for them.
Good luck. I'm not one for lawyers or suing in general but if they attempt to screw you, let them know that you are ready to play hard ball.
Dang, i hate that happened man, i was lookin forward to wheeling with you again... Now looks like im the only one wheelin on 35's....guess ill have to bring my right foot with me and tote some mail....
Glad you're ok dude. Your rig really looks fine though. Just a housing and a couple tires and you're good to go. I know the pics aren't good but it looks like the unirails didn't buckle much, if any...
Any news from the insurance company Clay?
Adjuster came yesterday and it looks like they are going to total the jeep. Haven't given me a figure yet though.
well thats no good buy it back and make it trailer only if they do man
Supposedly I will stil get some cash even if they total it and I buy it back. This is what I have been told (by friends not the adjuster) that if they decide the value of the Jeep is $2k, then if I decide to keep it, they will take out a percentage (I am assuming the value they would have expected to get from the salvage yard) so lets say $400. In this scenario I would get to keep the jeep (and it will have a salvage title, but who cares) and they would give me $1,600 (2,000 - 400).
So that is better than I was thinking, I thought I would have to buy it back for the total $2k and then have no money to repair it with.
Tell 'em to hurry up, you have some work to do so you can go wheelin' at the end of Feb.!
Man I wish, I went ahead and canceled my reservation at the bunk house
who else is coming? Clay, you should at least come ride with somebody...
I'm gonna run the numbers on what it would cost me to go and transfer that money into savings for big boy axles if I can swing it.
So, my bank account is going to think that I'm coming, does that count?
GMP was in the radius of the area where I would seriously consider going with a functional rig, so that's how I'm justifying this "trip"

I appreciate the offers guys but I am going to have to pass, and get the jeep ready for Harlan this summer for GSSE. Make sure and take lots of pictures so I can live vicariously through you guys!
I've been doing my own version of "keep the change" with my checking account that's been good for about $50 extra/month. I've also been actually "saving" the money I save for stuff I normally buy. So if I save 50 cents from a coupon or something -- that 50 cents is going into savings. I also put whatever money I save into savings if I decide to not buy something after giving serious consideration to it. There have also been some bills that I've been able to cut back on after realizing that I was overpaying for some stuff. That monthly difference gets dumped into savings, too.
I'm noticing a huge difference already in what I can save and I haven't even really altered my lifestyle.
LOL, I am certainly going to keep it and fix it, don't worry about that.
Even if they total it, I should still get about $1500 cash, so that should cover the steering, axle housing and maybe a lower long arm or two. Hopefully the tranny and t-case are repairable.
I finally got out there this mroning and changed the front tire, so now it is at least on four inflated tires. I looked at the tire, and it deflated because of a tear in the sidewall, so that is good because I thought it was the impact of the crash that popped the bead. I can probably get the side wall repaired and use that tire as a second spare.
Dang clay! (i havent been on here in a while) that sucks, looks like it didnt mess up the jeep too much, hopefully just steering and a tire and your good to go.
So, who has stuff left to do before the end of the month?
I still have to finish the rear four link and bump stop the front axle a little more. I have been really busy with "other" crap and haven't had much time for the Jeep lately but I will get it done.
extend front axle truss over cast down to bump pad
rebuild front shocks again
raise frame side front upper link mounts if I get really motivated
fluids
nut & bolt
I need to upgrade my ps pump.. hopefully to a late model van pump..
