Looking for a good radiator and fan combo, like the 411.00 Griffin, not terribly expensive, but if anyone knows of another good option, I'm all ears. I'll be building custom mounts, so thats not an issue.

Also, a good controller for the fan? Recomendations?

If this suits your needs, I've still got it for sale.

Honestly, I'd say get yourself a good controller like the SPAL he listed above, or the DCController matt has for sale, a taurus fan, and a nice thick universal aluminum radiator through summit or somewhere similar that works with the dimensions your thinking. I'll tell ya, the taurus fan fits the 5.2 ZJ rad dimensions pretty well, if you just did similar to that in a much thicker all aluminum version it should do well!

my tauras fan moves more air than i could ever need, i bought it for $16 from the pick and pull, it fits my 5.2 rad perfect, super easy mount to make, clips in the exsisting clips in bottom

i like the pwm controller like he has, but a great cheap alternative is a thermostatically controlled controller made by hayden, its available at any orilley auto parts for about $30, it has a a/c imput and adjustable temp to engage fan

I just saw the perfect example, ActionFab's BeCool radiator in his new build. Mate this up with a taurus and good controller...

PilotAustin, why are you selling it? Selling the taurus fan too?

I'm selling my Taurus fan and the DC Controlls controller from the buggy if you're interested - I can't imagine needing to move more air than that.

I use a Taurus fan and an 80's Vdub Rabbit Temp sender. Just gotta tap the Tstat housing to 18mm, works fine for me.

I found the Radiator I'm going to go with, the 22"x 19" Griffin alluminum 2 row with E fan attached.

I've been looking at alot of controllers, the SPAL seems like too much hassle and complications.

Looking into the painless kits, I want one with a hi/low/off switch in the cab for water crossings, and I dont need an Air Conditioning switch, I'm deleting the AC.

2nd Taurus 3.8L fan and DC Controller.

DC Controller has simple five wire hookup, and does the job. Had a SPAL controller, and the wiring/relays/fuses required to properly modulate the hi-amp draw of the Taurus fan was absolutely rediculous. Nice product, but not meant to work with fans like the Taurus 3.8L/Mark VIII unit.

I found a good price on a Griffin universal radiator with combo fan attached, its a single speed fan FYI. Now I'm piecing together the switch, relay, wires, ETC needed to wire the thing to run.

Got a simple rocker switch with LED to ad to the dash (so I can turn it off for water crossing) and a 50 amp bosch relay. Found a good wiring diagram to follow for all my wiring.

Now what I'm looking for is a good temperature sensor, any recomendations on what kind? Looking at the probe slyle for simplicity, but the thread in, in line style seem more reliable or accurate. I dont know.

Also, I know the T-stat operating temp is 185*, and I found a "180*- turn on" temp probe, is that good or should I go with a higher "On" temp?

FYI the new Spal is rated for 50 amps I believe. The older unit you may get by with the taurus fan. I have the older one and decided to go the high road. I bought a power MOSFET and power diode (for reverse shut down bias of the fan). When I get a chance I plan on making a small circuit board an runnign the Spal as a controller for the power MOSFET.

Also note, you get what you pay for. You can start at the bottom with a switch and realy and as you go up in price you get more options. Seems to be many options now so you need vs price point should be met by someone.

Finally to around to this. I am building it this weekend for GSW. If it works (it should) I will write it all up.
I am making it for my SPAL but any controller outputs can be used.
Or skip the circuit after relay RY3, use the SPDT relay as the Voltage source into the two different Fan leads for a manual switch for Hi Lo operation.
