Seriously, what is the point of these? I'm not bashing the product, I guess I just simply don't understand them.

I mean, if you get them to protect the sheet metal, but then drill 30 holes into the same piece that you were trying to protect, doesn't it defeat the purpose?

plus, if they aren't reinforced, I would think that while they may keep their shape under pressure, the metal surrounding them will more than likely deform to make up for the stress.

    Am I wrong here?

They totally make sense for protection especially when you do like I will and add a tube flare about 3" out to protect my window.

I would think this is one of the main reasons to run them, Id rather not have plexiglass windows myself.

i plan on adding a a tube fender from the rock rails to the rear bumper like Matt did with his front fenders so with that and the current protection i think ill be just fine now i just need sliders and a bumper!

I also plan to make some backing plates just havent had time to do so. I installed them so i would have the protection the currently offer but i will be making them stronger with the backing plates.

Well I went by a buddies house today and picked up the bezel Got it installed but I still need to go to the store and get some longer hardware for the filler neck but this will do till then looks 100x's better IMO

I know it only has 3 bolts on it i had to leave one on the filler neck to hold it up and in place so when i get my new hardware there will be 4 bolts on it

They are just temporary. Im going to switch to allen hed or torx head so that it will have a round head and is less likely to be snapped off if i do drag on the panels. When i do that I might paint them black but idk yet.

Sorry my personal opinion...I don't see the point, and I think they look dumb, that being said, this is why there are so many different ways to build our Jeeps, everyone has different taste...

Only thing I would change is use countersunk allen head bolts. Is that 1/8"? Looks pretty thin so I'm not sure the countersunk bolts would work well.

To each his own my friend no offense take at all these are just the start I plan to expand on them and they will have backing plates to add much needed strength.
