What is "normal" oil pressure at idle (not at startup)? I never really took note and got a CEL for low oil pressure last night.
I know this is within the acceptable range, but is this "normal":
I got a CEL yesterday for low oil pressure. I was way overdue for an oil change, so I hoped that would fix the problem. Everything "looks" fine with the oil pressure, but I just want to be sure that my idling pressure is "normal". I'm getting the CEL reset ASAP so I can see if it comes back, but just figured I would post up to get opinions.
My guess is that the guage is nearly worthless and nothing more than a glorified idiot light. To get an accurate reading you'll have to plumb a real oil pressure guage.
Fair enough. I'll get the light reset and see if it comes back.
There is a flash update to fix that issue. Stop by a dealer and see if it applies to your truck. They can tell by the vin. If you are under 80k mi it should be free.
The 5.7s with the MDS don't like you missing oil changes. Something about that messing up the delicate system.

They put msd ignitions on Dodge now? Or did you mean MDS (multiple displacement system)
No cars like missing oil changes. The mds system however, does not like the incorrect oil and can set a dtc oddly entitled incorrect engine oil. 5w 20 only.
