I like those fuel carriers! That would be OK on top, keeping the CG low. I don't want to put any more weight past the rear bumper because of the leverage effect past the rear axle.
I'm pleased w/the departure angle that I built into my bumper even w/33's on. I built it so that a 35 would work too, but haven't gone there.
this is what i had on my commander. i stil have the carrier. the commander has been banished. it started to die. i decided it wasn't worth it anymore.
What happened to the Commander? (Bought one for the wife not too long ago.)
We purchased a 2006 limited commander not too long ago, and turned around and sold it 4 months later.
Damn thing was a lemon and only had 22K on it when we purchased it.
Yup that tire carrier would get ripped off on every trip to Moab.
i got rid of it when i got rid of my business. it shifted like crap. had all kinds of canbus issues. I serviced it all the time, the only good part of the thing was the motor. no clearance, no parts, no solid axle, no lockers, and electronic lockers suck in mud and snow.
anyway, i tried to make it into something, but everytime i took it out something else would make a new noise, the front end on that thing was horrible. i broke on CV axle on the passenger side. it was dented all over, it had tons of wind noise.
i love this grand cherokee.
the commander looked cool, but was pretty worthless compared to this grand cherokee. i think the GC has more clearance stock then my commander did with 3" of lift and 32" tires.
