So the yeear is 2008, it's summertime a few camping and light wheeling trips. A couple weeks later on a trip to Denver from the Western slope my 35 starts making a grinding noise, just like it did a couple years earlier, Damn it. Well at this point the 249 VC is shot of course, the rear 35 is now shot again and the body is beat up from years of abuse and neglect. Then came OBAMA and the cash 4 clunkers and I thought long and hard, but wasn't ready for the monthly payments that came with the new vehicle so I let the Jeep sit until now.

Here she is as she sits now:

I now a lot of people don't post pics of the stock Jeep we have all seen them they all look the same right. Well I kind of like the before and afters but I don't have any pics of mine stock. I bought the Jeep in 2001 and while waiting for the emissions test I went down to the local 4wheel shop and bought a 1.25" Teraflex BB Rancho 9000s and JKS discos so I don't have any pics of the Jeep stock or before now other than this one:

    Name: P7210515.jpg
Views: 849
Size: 33.1 KB

This pic was taken a couple weeks after I bought it.
I bought the Jeep put a 1.25" BB plus the stock spacer 31s and took it wheeling the next day on Spring Creek near Idaho Springs and recieved my first bit of metal damage, oh well so much for that.

So I started this thread more for myself than anything I like the idea of having a record of things now that I look back and realize I have all but no pics of my Jeep over the years. I got the Lifetime membership because I have been visiting this site for a couple years now and figured that it has saved me at least the 80$ fee already and will save me more going forward only made sense.

So going forward I am looking to replace all that is bad which means pretty much everything! LOL

    Future plans as of now:
8.8 rear to replace the shot 35
231 SYE (already have) w/JB Conversions SYE 60k mi on the case for 325
    F>R swap
Fender trimming and new tires of course
the list goes on and my pocket book goes dry. you know the rest

Any comments or recommendations are always welcome

Wow so 2 DD,2 kids a house etc is really slowing things down. Managed to finally get somewhere though. 8.8 w/4.10s also got some 4.10s for the 30 should have them installed in a few weeks when the weather gets a little warmer.

$600 including brackets and some assistance with welding them on. This price also includes future help as I have met someone who will help with my build.

Do yourself a favor and when you put those 4.10's in save the money on the install kit. Just swap the shims, spacers and bearings exactly like they were on the old gears. YOu will need a new pinion seal is all. If you have good bearings in the 30 currently which is highly likely, then you will get out dirt cheap and I almost gurantee a near perfect pattern.

Thanks for the advise on the 30 much appreciated. I have R/P only and the install is free. Yeah who only knows the condition of the inside it has been sitting for a little over two years now and I can't remember the last time it was serviced so we will see. If it's no good then another project will be added to the list otherwise, if it aint broke don't fix it.

8.8 is in along with rear IRO adjustable short arms. Still have few issues to work out. there is a clunking noise not sure what it is just yet. The ring and pinion for the front was the wrong part and there were some other issues with the front axle after all these miles, so... a hp30 and some sort of home brew steering is in the works.

So I go to the JY today and found some near new struts for the rear lift gate. Installed them and then about 10-15mi down the road the rear window explodes.

yeah that's what I was thinking. I don't know if I will have time to get it done before I leave for a week long camping trip so I might have to do a temp plexiglass window or something like that until I have time to do the swap. I definitely don't want to pay the $410 Safelite quoted me for the glass

It was really bothering me and I figured for the amount of time and effort it would take to make a temp I might as well swap the Hatch.

It turns out the rear lift gate wiring is just a plug and go, the rear window wasn't working and I chased the problem for a long time today. There is a sensor switch on the door lock which senses whether or not the doors are locked that has crapped out. I finally figured it out and bypassed it until I can get one that works.

I also got a new front driveshaft. You can kind of see in the pic there is a handy little hole cut in the double cardan joint to access the pivot joint with a grease gun needle.

Also got the front header panel on and the bumper back on. Headlights are finally solid again.

I haven't been around in a while due to life outside my Jeep. I have finally added a 3link midarm setup and 3.5 RE front coils (actually happened in September 2011)
