So to make this short and sweet, Sometimes when I hit little bumps it dies like a miss and when I hit a big one it dies alltogether and sometimes doesnot come back on after I try cranking it until i get out and jiggle wires and tap on things.
Some history though with this jeep, one day I was going to work and it blew the ASD fuse and I could not figure it out till I trailered it home.
Replaced Fuel pump last year.
Any Ideas
Check the connectors at your PCM. The ones on my dad's ZJ came loose and it would die every so often.
I would look for the ground wire from the engine block to body.
As been said, check the connection at the ECU/PCM and all wiring. Mine was the connection at the ECU/PCM when mine did this earlier this year after installing the JET module, duct tape took care of it!
I thought that might be the problem! We shall see tomorrow...
Also, would anyone know about the VIC not working even though i went and got another one from the junkyyardy??
One time on the 4.0 back in like 2004 I unplugged my coil wire doing some maintenance or something, forgot about it, and for a while when driving around it would die/miss when I hit bumps.
Was poking around under the hood a few days later and realized my coil was still unplugged and the spark had been arcing through the boot to fire the plugs.
Kind of amazed it ran at all. Anyway, worth checking.
Up here in kingwood. IDK i think i looked at the right fuses but I dont have the diagram.
Sorry ATL ZJ
Its a 96 5.2 AWD
When in doubt, check ALL the fuses. Sometimes it's the one you swear it couldn't be.
Make sure wiring is good from the fuel pump forward. Check every wiring harness connector you see.
okay well the sucker is now deciding to work??? strange thing is whenever i fix one thing, something totally diff breaks? My water pump has now sprang a leak how nice....... i just had all the front end off and something told me to do it while it was right there ( had to do a harmonic balancer, front main, oilpump)
just my luck
It's got to be lose electrical connections somewhere.
i would check your battery terminals. start easy and then work your way back. it sounds like you just have a bare wire or a bad conector. on my zj i use to have a very small ground wire with 2 bigger ones at the battery terminal. the little one always wiggle loose and it will just die. its the little things that piss you off.
