Carrier go boom! I'm going to guess (in this application) that the spider gears being locked up is going to transfer the force over to the carrier. And we all know d30 carriers are super strong....
The filled-in spots act like ramps (the gears try to continue rotating and climb over the weld), putting a shit ton of force on the carrier trying to split it in half.
Well I will go ahead and do it so next time someone post up " Has anyone ever tried a fozzy locker" someone will show them the pics of my carnage and say don't do it. If it does trash my axle it was gonna happen one day anyways. lol. For someone reason i'm in guinea pig mode.
lets get a pool going...
T minus X to his carrier going boom haha
Speaking of carriers exploding, anybody want to buy my rocksliders?
T minus 16 minutes and 38 seconds after being on the trail. Or the first time you try turning and gassing to hard....
whats the wager??
Ill be in B-town Thursday friday.... ill come by to see those sliders?
Yea thats cool. I want boatsidesnow.
I've seen the concept of that welding before...glad to see someone putting it to use! It might go boom, but I haven't seen many off roaders playing with the idea, so I'm watching to see how it acts for ya!
One thing though, if things are as they seem I do not approve of your coil retainer. Are the bottoms of the springs clamped in? I can't see anything in the pics, and if thats so your new retainer is just going to pull the coil out of the bottom perch and drop you on your bumpstop, wedging your coil somewhere in the process and probably doing damage. I had this happen once, the coil jammed itself against the brake caliper and brake line making it leak fluid. I would honestly rather have both or nothing in this situation (just a bottom retainer works too)
I have the stock coil retainers on the bottom, It's a little bolt on clamp and I have tie exhuast clamps on the top. I'm going to limit strap the travel before it stretches the coil very far. Before I added the top coil retainer I didn't feel the suspension was even getting warmed up and the coil would fall out resulting in some scary shit kicking it back in or whatever, so I'm stretching the coil a bit trying to get my moneys worth out of the rear. the front works fine without a top coil retainer, It will allow the full travel of my 31" front shocks without the coil unseating at all.
Cranked the heep up today and decided to drive it around a little. Went by the local offroad shop and some of the guys were up there so I stopped and bullshitted for a few hours and tried the RTI while I was there. It did really well with rear coils full retained, I'm not sure what to do about bumpstops now, It's almost like my jeep doesn't weigh enough to full compress the springs so everything just kinda stops itself right where it should. Anyways I got a ride comin up in october so I will be doin my limit chains tommorow. Heres a pic of the ramp, It went up until the back tire was also about to start up the ramp and no tires lifted, so that's good I reckon. It looks like the drivers rear is lifting, but it was just climbing up the angle iron the ramp.
And I guess i'm groing up a little because I hate the way the roofrack and light bar look on it now. Going to remove them tommorow. Oddly enough that roofrack has saved me from flopping twice, and it was my first ever jeep related project so I'm kinda sentimental about it I guess, but if anyone local wants a cheap kevins lightbar hit me up.
Flex out the rear and you will be able to get the front to bottom out.
In other words, if you get back to the offroad shop, drive up the ramp backwards and you will be able to get enough weight on the front end to compress the springs to where you hit the bumpstop or your tire hits the inner fender. This is of course assuming that nothing else is binding or hitting in your suspension.
A forklift works best though because you can crank the front tires to full lock before you lift one of the rear tires.
Finally -- due to our wheelbase, lifted ZJs usually need to hit an RTI ramp at an angle. If you hit the RIT ramp at an angle, your rear tire won't hit the bottom of the ramp and you will be able to get another couple inches up the ramp before you lift a tire. I'm not a big RTI fan, but they sure can be convenient for checking for tire clearances...

Well I got lucky today. My dad's friend has a Dodge Ram 2500 with the Cummins in it stored at my house while he was away working in Virginia. Well he decided to stay up there permanently, thus leaving us with the dodge and neither one of us wanting to drive it up there. While it was down here I was supposed to fix rusted through brakelines and find some new rear tires for him and he was going to give me a few hundred bucks......Well he called me today and informed me he just purchased a new duramax and tractor so he doesn't need the dodge anymore. He said I could sell it and split the money with him or he would pay for whatever other repairs it needed and I could have it!!!. Of course i'm keeping it....hello Mr. Towpig
It has the complete dodge banks system, intake, injectors, blah, blah, blah, all the way down to the muffler...the whole nine yards. It also has air bag supports on the rear axle with adjustable Rancho shocks and a sweet aftermarket J-brake installed...It pulls like a beast and the A/C is like ICE!!! It also has a 12,000lb electric winch in the bed with a set of removable Gin poles. It got 23mpg towing a 36 ft travel trailer, so it should love towing my tiny heep. lol
Anyways here she is, needs a bath and some new meat on the rear.
Here you can kinda make out the banks intake and some other stuff.
Here you can see the blue J-brake in the back behind the TURBO!!!!
I'm pretty pumped Iv'e always wanted a diesel.
Nice! Congrats on getting it! Tow the Heep out here beginning of October, BVORR is hosting some 'statewide' meet I believe that 2nd weekend in Oct.
So what happens to the Titan? Gonna let Kalyn drive it?
Lucky ass, that's a hell of a come up! Congrats!
good score on the truck. and damn, look at your foreskin flex...
Thanks everybody. It came from up north so I'm going to pull the rear axle, wire wheel and paint everything. You know before I got my jeep sickness I would have just checked the oil and coolant and drove it........Now i'm pulling the axle next weekend, painting my wheels black, putting in all new fuel lines for no apparent reason cept a lil rust.....geez it sucks being anal about a vehicle. lol. Also think I'm going to order some treadwright 245/75/16 Warden A/T's. 208.00 shipped to my door. Can't beat that.
Anyone know where I can figure out what axle, tranny and whatnot I have? Looks like a dana 70.

Sweet score on the rig, I really like those trucks.
Is it the 12v or 24v? Auto or stick?
If it's a stick, it's an NV4500 for 5 speed, NV5600 for 6 speed.
Auto I think is a 47RH for the 12v, and 47RE for the 24v.
As for the axle, it's probably a 70, but I'm not 100% on that.
Check out www.cumminsforum.com
above info is correct i believe
Thanks.
man i want some more of your foreskin
