I found out about this Sunday morning and just could not believe it, it was all so sudden and completely unexpected. I met Steven through his fiance about 4 years ago, over those years we had a really good friendship for being 3 hours apart. Every time I would visit them in Lumberton Steven and I would always go work on his Jeep or do something related, it was always fun to work with him as you never knew what crazy things may come of it. He kept telling me to name a weekend for him to come out to College Station and help me finish my pos, just an all out weekend of wrenching to get it moving. He was always willing to help you out no matter what.

I have been told that a firefighters funeral will be held for him on Thursday as there should be since he gave his service to help others. My thoughts and prayers go out to the rest of his family and friends, especially his fiance Kalyn as she has been making all of the arrangements during this very difficult time.

RIP bud, you were a great person and especially a great friend, you will be missed.

That really sucks. My prayers are with his family. FYI for those of you that attend his funeral be prepared for the emotion! Firefighter funerals are the most tear jerking funerals you can ever imagine. I have been to more than I care to have and always find myself fighting tears.

    Here is Steven's obituary.

    http://www.broussards1889.com/servic...id=7831&locid=

His fiance has run into some financial issues settling everything and could use all the help she can get. A memorial account has been set up to receive any donations instead of sending flowers. Here is how you can help:

Contact 5-Point Credit Union in Lumberton at 409-751-5119 and use his fiance's name, Kalyn Layton, and the account #8508342 to make a donation.

The family thanks all of you for your thoughts and prayers, now lets see if we can help them out.

Just updating this to let you guys know whats been going on.

Steven was laid to rest 2 weeks ago on the 7th, I was unable to attend but from the sound of it he had the perfect firefighter's funeral to honor him. I did go to Beaumont this past weekend and it seems Kalyn and the family are handling it pretty well for whats been going on these past 2-3 weeks. They thank everyone for the thoughts and prayers.

Also, they're going to put together a memorial run for him possibly in Gilmer, TX. So for anyone who would like to attend I'll post more information as soon as I find out about it. The family is still taking donations and could use all the help they can get. Incase you missed the info on how to donate, here it is.

Contact 5-Point Credit Union in Lumberton at 409-751-5119
Use the name Kalyn Layton and the account #8508342 to make a donation.
