Planning on heading up there the 11th. Might head up Saturday night to camp, but will be running the full trail Sunday.
Anybody interested in joining us for the trail Sunday?
World Cup Finals...otherwise I would be in.
We will be camping Fri and Sat near the town of Alma and plan to run Wheeler on Saturday. Might be interested in running it again if early on Sunday. Post up if you end up camping in the area.
Dave, are you running anything Sat or Sun?
I am camping tonight near Alma (with Keith) and we running Wheeler Lake Saturday. Not sure yet what we will run on Sunday.
Looks like we will miss ya this weekend. John and I are not exactly sure whats on the agenda for Sunday.
I finished my spring over axle swap on my pop up and put a carrier on the rear to haul more provisions. So I will be doing a little trailer testing too.
Have a great weekend.
Dang, would have probably came if I would have seen this before now. Got to start checking more often. And no Holy Cross for me either, work on Saturday
Have fun
Just got home, from 2 days of camping with Keith and our kids.
Ran Wheeler on Sat. Some rain/hail at the top. Bowling Ball alley was harder then I remember. No issues.
Ran Twin Cone Sun (today). Minor carnage on the way to the trail head. A large can of bear mace went off in my Jeep. Not fun! It cleared out after a bit, drove the rest of the day with windows and sunroof open.
While unpacking the Jeep and doing some mace clean up, I noticed a nice red puddle under the Jeep. I must have tagged my transmission cover on a rock on Twin Cone. Big dent, hole and dripping. Glad I made it home OK.
Wow glad you made it home with the transmission leak. Twin Cone was more difficult than in the past on the last 3rd of the trail.
It was a good weekend in the mountains.
The oil drain pan I put under the jeep last night is now full.

Dang, lucky you did make it home. Time to weld up one with a skid on the bottom.
PML sells a thick walled aluminum casting...but it might crack instead of dent when I hit it again.
NAPA and checker don't have them, dealer has one for $46. Off to the dealer.
Transmission pan with dent and hole. That ribbed area is suppose to be flat across.

Christ, John! If you're not wrecking a transfer case from the inside, you're wrecking your transmission from the outside!
Or spraying Bear Made inside his Jeep.
Replaced the pan yesterday. I was relieved to see that the oil pick up and filter are on the passenger side, since the driver's side was smashed in. No damage at all. The mace smell is less. Now it just smells like I sprayed some of that "hippie" patchouli perfume in the Jeep.

It takes a pretty interesting obstacle to get your tranny pan in danger, the clayton's arms or driveshaft are usually first to hit haha. I actually never hit my tranny pan I don't think...but I've dented up both my precats pretty good, and they're in front of the tranny pan 0.o
I have hit the trans pan once before. Both times I was in a large set of rocks and the front end was not where I wanted it, and I ended up straddling a large boulder. I didn't hear anything unusual when I hit it, but the long arms were also banging hard on the rocks.
Yep, it's good as new.
