HAHAHA by far the best quote of that rescue mission. Our 14 hour Moab Rim time could quite possibly be a new record

Yeah, I just mean a record for that trail haha. I know other trails can take much longer.

Agreed! So simple, yet so funny. It definately lightened up the mood from our focus on a sun setting, a rolled WJ, and my ZJ with the fuel tank dropped on the trail.

I have tons of pictures from Tom, Stan, and Corey. I will be making a video soon too.

I am the lucky guy with the rolled white WJ. I appreciate everyones concern for my and my passengers safety.

I truly appreciate how helpful and nice everyone on the trail was. I want to thank every one, I will name some that I can remember, but I no that I must be forgetting some of you who helped, it did not go unnoticed. So here is a short list.
Tyler, a great trail guide as well as a rescue squad, Cody the best pizza delivery guy ever, and I didnt even tip!, John B, Stan, John, Troy, Josh, Scott, Dom, and everyone else that made getting the WJ flipped back over, not to mention getting the ZJ running again, and down the trail possible.

This was my first GSW, and the not so lucky 13th. I will definitely be back, hopefully next year, if all goes well. I also wanted to thank all of the organizers who worked so very hard all year to make this awesome event. Us Iron Rock guys all felt welcome immediately, even though we had not even met anyone in person prior to this.

I also want to thank all the other people we met that were so concerned for our safety, and even for my wrecked WJ. I wish we could have met and talked to more people, but we only had so much time.

We left Monday morning at 9:00 am, and only made it to just north of Rifle CO, before the diesel started to lose power. We were 15 miles north of Rifle heading up the hill, when the power just went away. It was not getting enough fuel. We had to back it down the 2 lane road about 100 yards, with cars coming at us and cars trying to get around us from behind. When we finally got it to a shop to have them figure it out. It looks like the high pressure oil pump. Hopefully we can get it running in the morning. We only made it about 3 hours before getting laid up. So wish us luck!

Here is one photo, I will get more in the next day or 2

If I'd known Derick that you were in Silt we would have stopped & said Hi. While letting my jeep cool down a bit.

Not long after leaving Moab the temp went up to 230. Then it would jump in an instant to 258*. Back off the throttle & it would drop back down to 230*. Jim & I figured it could only be a faulty sensor because how could the flued temp jump up & down so fast. At one stop at the Fruta exit I swapped fans to see if that would help. It didn't.

I tried nursing it with the throttle at around 2k rpm when all of this started but after the fan swap I deside to let it stay at the almost pegged spot & it finally did over heat & boil over. I guess the gauge was not lying. So the rest of the was I left it at just under 2k.

Made it over Vail Pass & the loooong steep drive up to the tunnel & it didn't go over 230. Yea!!! So now I think I'm in the clear & can make it home. Nope! While coasting down hill tward Idaho Springs the damm thing Vapor locks when it's at it's coolest all day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What The Fuck!!!!! It vapor locked 3 times the rest of the way home. It was easy to fix thanks to the pressure releaf valve but geezzz! The only thing I can figure is the 8 month or so old high pressure fuel pump I installed for a prep to installing the SC is dying & is low on pressure. And hear I gave away my spare to Patrick. "I don't regret that though."

Thankfully I didn't need it but almost. The normal 6 hour drive ended up being 9 hours.

I'll post up pics & vids in a few days from the weekend.

I had another great time this year. To add to the carnage list, I think I've got a chipped/broken tooth in my rear diff. That noise & vibration on deceleration I heard coming off Pritchett got a little worse on the drive home, but I made it. Thought it was the cat hitting the xfer case skid, or the tailpipe on the ds, but now I don't think so. Yesterday after unpacking the ZJ, I was backing up slowly to put it in the garage, and I could hear that rhythmic rumble. Neither the skid nor the tailpipe are touching anything on the street (although they did take a banging on the trail). Have to pull the cover this weekend and take a look. Guess I gave it too much "go pedal" on Axle Hill (I think that's the one). Oh, and I hit a rock at some point, too - jarred the heck out of me, and I thought I'd dented the body. Just gouged my left rear flare though. Otherwise, the flare held up nicely.

To add to the carnage list, i broke two u-joints in my rear drive shaft. One on friday and one on sat, thankfully they lasted till we got back to camp where i replaced them. Severily damaged my radiator support on Goldbar Rim. My track bar bushing on the frame side are done. Blew up the A/C on hells after i over heated hopefully i just need to recharge it. nothing to serious thank god.

By far the best GSW ive been to out of the three last years. Thanks planners for setting up such a sick event!!!!

Well I guess we are pretty lucky, after driving home yesterday we got home in just under 14 hours and 875 miles- no problems, no damage.

Natalie and I had a great time and just want to say Thanks to all the planners, trail guides and sponsor's and anyone else who helped to put on another great GSW!

It was nice to see everyone again and meet some new people as well.

Hope to see some of you come out for Grand Slam Rubicon- Sept. 24-26th.

    Thanks again,
