I would like to start off by saying a huge "Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!" To EVERYONE involved in planning and organizing this past weekend. It was amazing, I had a blast, got in some great wheeling, had ALMOST as much fun off the trails hanging out with everyone. It was absolutely awesome. Thank You all again.
OK I will start off...IT WAS HOT....but with plenty of water, and some shade now and then it was bearable.
Trails...ran Gold Bar Rim on Thursday, managed to make all the obstacles...had a blast! No Breakage by anyone IIRC however there were a few stops to tighten up control arm jam nuts, and tweak things. Figured out really quick that the story of my weekend was going to be sumarized by not having rocker protection, or a T-case skid...Dave did an awesome job spotting me and helping make sure I didnt break...Thursday night I received exceptional supervision from Ryan making sure I got everything tightened up. I would definitely suggest NOT using Gold Bar Rim as your "shake down" run after installing a new lift...just sayin...
Friday we ran Hell's Revenge, hitting Hell's Gate, and Tip Over Challenge, and one...i guess you would call it a "double stepped wall", that if you didnt make it the first time DEFINITELY got your attention when you backed down and hit the ledge, and felt your front suspension top out going backwards....everyone who wanted to run them made them, had a good time, the only roll over was John's (311wj) RC crawler...it needed a few tries and some coaxing to make it up Hell's Gate.
Saturday, we hit Cliffhanger, again my lack of rocker protection, and T-case skid factored in on most of the obstacles, i only "Bumped" the T-case once, and because of the lack of armor, decided to not hit the actual Cliff Hanger obstacle, side note there are very few ways to avoid the obstacles, so learn from my dumb ass and if you dont have armor, dont run this trail. Carnage for the day, Putz blew up a shock trying to come back up the cliff hanger, and Jim (fpkites) had major damage to his passenger lower control arm bracket. I ripped off the rear bumper cover on my ZJ...
All in all it was an awesome weekend...great wheeling, great people, great times! I am already looking forward to next year!!!!!
P.S. if anyone knows a good detailer in Moab I know a little red car that probably has some serious brown stains on the drivers seat!

Thanks to everyone who helped plan it. Everyone was very friendly and had a blast, definitely try to make it next year. Hope everyone has a safe trip back home.

my 3.5 hour drive home turned into an 8 hour drive home....but I'm home.
Good times and as always I'm glad I got to wheel with some old and new faces.
8 hour drive? That doesn't sound good . . . .
I know Stan had some wheel bearing issues on his way home too. You guys are making me nervous to leave tomorrow, lol.

My carnage started during my drive out to Moab Wednesday afternoon.
The 231 T-case popped into neutral, then 4 low. Turns out it was a broken shift fork.
Jim Karlin came along and put my busted WJ on his trailer. Big thanks to Jim and his family!
While on route, Sandy and Gary tracked down the needed 231 parts at Moab 4x4 Outpost to fix it. Thursday was spent wrenching in the Red Stone parking lot. Thanks to everyone who lent a hand as the hours went by. We got it all back together and trail tested it Thursday afternoon.
Huge thanks go to Bryant & Kevin for getting it fixed !!!
I think this might be a good starting point for next year's shirt:
I know of:
torn off bumper
blown up shock
rolled WJ
Boiling battery
Overheating ZJ
Escaping front WJ springs
Son of Blown Tcase (parts were left out of Adam's tcase rebuild and he lost front drive on Gold Bar Rim)
Busted rear linkages that had to be re-welded (Gold Bar Rim)
I might get to add something in my tcase to the list. About 20 miles from home I started to hear a noise, about 1 mile from home it was starting to get bad. Made it home and was leaking atf fluid from my t-case pretty badly through the rear output seal.
DAMN lol that's crazy Ryan! As for the tcase, it couldn't be as simple as a U-joint going out could it? I could picture a shot u-joint making the tcase seal leak...
On our normally 3 1/2 hour drive home that turned into 8 hours here is what happened.
Cody's trailer lost it's hub/wheel so we had to unload his ZJ and drive it and tow the trailer empty.
Dom's ZJ broke the outer axle nut, causing him to almost lose control of the Jeep and flip. The wheel/hub assembly was about 1"-2" from falling off. Would've been bad had that happened. We had to unload my ZJ and trailer his back to leave it in Green River.
I feel like the weekend hasn't ended yet either. This morning on my way to work I rear-ended a Kia. I've never done something so stupid before. Turning right at a light, the guy in front of me went so I looked left and let off the brake....BAM. Oh, the guy hadn't gone yet. Nothing happened to my truck, but he will need a new bumper and trunk.
I'm seriously done. This bad karma I've got going needs to end.
Did anyone get pics of the Wrangler CRD with Michigan plates in the Red Stone parking lot?
I consider myself fortunate considering the ever growing list of event carnage.
For me:
Tow vehicle full of regurgitated gatorade/goldfish/hamburger/?apple
Prob chipped or broken tooth in front diff
TC linkage broke
Matt M had rear LCA trail weld repair and PS pump seals leaking.
Justin (CO) broke a 44 hub on Metal Masher.
Can the Tshirt reprints have "I survived GSW 13 with only a broken _________" added??.
I will add that I am always amazed at just how many people are attend. You put everyone together at the park and it surprises. Another well put together event with alot of hard work behind the scenes.
Additional thanks to every one who helped Cayden on his 2 day (unsuccessful) lizard hunt.
David
So now that GSW is over. Anyone want to do a GSSW?
