Yeah the same rules apply to rope as cable... Although rope won't rats nest quite as bad as cable can. In addition to bolting the provided thimble to the drum, I duct taped the first 6 or so wraps of my rope to the winch drum to keep the bottom layer from slipping, using half the width of the tape on the drum itself, and half on the rope... then I overlapped the half on the drum with the next wrap of rope... hopefully that makes sense. Then I spooled the rest of the rope under a mild load.

OK I'm going to run away now before I get yelled at for being in the GSW forum.

Nobody here will yell at you, or are you worried about buddies from the GSSE forum?

Only thing I'd yell at you about is not going to GSW!

Found more while changing to my 33's, rear brake pads needed replaced. They propbably could have done GSW, but with trips to the San Juan this Fourth of July and hopefully fall as well as other trips this summer, when the tires are off made the most sense to replace at the time.

Also checked and verified that my steering box bolts were tight and they were.

Update on the list...while installing the new lift, found that my brakes were in bad shape too, so new pads and rotors all around. Got the lift installed, tow hooks installed, (my buddy informed me that while he was trying to drill out the front mounting holes he ran the drill into the AC condenser...nice...no AC) But I am now on 6.25" of lift, with front tow hooks...added drop pitman arm, now I need to get it serviced, and front end aligned, and hopefully get the sliders built...

I was bored and it was warm out, so I yanked my 1" spacers.

I'm now at 5" of lift with 35's.

I also test fitted a 37" tire, just for fun.
When the time is right, I have plenty of room, with all my past grinding and cutting.

Stroker went ok, I still have a knock. 8.8 and long arms are coming along slow, I had to rethink my frame locations and bracketry. I bought what I thought was an open 8.8, but it was lsd, so I have an Aussie that wont be going in. But the sye went well, however now I need a different driveshaft. Scratched the front bumper for now, that will be shortly after, so the winch stays home.

John, I thought you had 37's before which is why you clearanced your sheet metal...

No leaks for the transmission pan reseal, yea! Just finished wiping down all the interior vinil, leather, plastic and treating it. My wife said that I had to clean the dust out before we start the season... so I had a side track on my list work. Not that it would out do Scott's, but it does look nice now. Plan is to fix the skid plate tomorrow night after work.

Got distracted last night for a while at the new Cabelas' store in GJ that opened last weekend. Oooohhhh the toys!

    Eight more days!!!!

    Sandy, good point.
Tom Woods does build and ship 'em in one day, with free shipping, no sales tax, price is the same as a local shop.

Nope, just planned ahead when I did all that cutting 4 years ago. Even did some more while test fitting the 37 yesterday with all 4 springs out of the Jeep.

Wow, 4 years ago, it must be time for new tires!

Thanks, I do look at our sponsors first. I have the stock shaft and a spare front I am going to take to a shop and see if they can mate the two.

You must have pushed your front axle quite a bit further forward than I did to fit 37's. When I was clearancing the inside of my front wheel well with a grinder at the pinch seam, I busted through the sheet metal and had to patch the hole...

I think I'm about set. Jeep is packed and ready. Might crawl under it again to make sure all the bolts are tight but that's about it. Changed the oil in both the ZJ and truck today, truck is still leaking pretty good, but I doubt I'll dive into that before GSW. Took the trailer out a few months ago and all was well there, so it should just be loading up the trailer and headin out!

Well, I'm heading down to Moab tomorrow. I'm coming back Monday and leaving the ZJ down there until I go back down on Wednesday night. The ZJ is all loaded up and ready to go!

My Problem is the list gets longer as the time grows shorter

    But will not miss it

Forgone hooking up the e-brake, and had to go back from over-knuckle steering to stock setup because I've really not enough (or is it too much?) backspacing on the rims. Well you win some you lose some. Other than few cosmetic details I'm ready to go.
