As our attendance grows we want to continue to improve the event and offer more.. As planners we've been discussing a few additions this year to improve upon last years successes and shortcomings. With these improvements some more costs will be incurred as well.

As of now we would like to discuss and gage intrest in:

t-shirts.. who wants one? or two.. what sizes..?

We want to have more of a cohesive group than we did last year (the rain didn't help with this one) There will be a group campsite where everyone will be able to gather and hang out upon arrival at the campground and evenings, this will be where you'll sign in upon arrival and where the drivers meeting on Friday morning will be held. Pretty much a place for everyone to hang out and everyone is welcome.

Going along with the group campsite we'd like to have a meal as group saturday evening. we are looking into having bbq or something similar catered for the group. in the old days of gsse we had a cookout saturday night but we think the group may be a little large and think its probably pointless to grill hamburgers pretty much in the parking lot of a hamburger joint..

We would also like to provide a map with paid registration. more than likely we'll provide the official trail map because it will be the most accurate and up to date with trail names and difficulty levels. We plan to supplement the map with reccomendations from past experiences as well as landmarks and pointers to hopefully eliminate guys and groups running around lost and not getting any wheeling in.

Right now we are looking at a ballpark estimate of $40/person for the above features. Your campsite and trail permits will be each persons responsibility.

your thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated. last year was a blast and we look forward to taking this years event to a new level.

I voted for the community campsite to have a gathering place. I will probably sleep at a cabin nearby though.
Thank you to those that serve our country.

All the options sound great. I vote for all of them. These are all great things to make the experience even better.
I'm still waiting on the inexpensive shit to break!!!

'02 WJ with 60's, locked, full hydo, ORI's, on 40's, and still have air conditioning!

    1 t-shirt..XXL.

Will it be a full topographic map that completely covers a 16' trailer when I open it up

Just to clarify I would still need to pay:
$20 for a 31 day pass (or $35 if I go for a full year)
$10?/night to tent camp (Evarts or Harlan?)

sorry to disappoint on the size of the map.. size is comparable to the windrock maps..

correct on the trail permit cost

campsites are $20/night. the evarts campground (aka behind the dairy hut) is where most everyone will camp and where the community campsite will be. normally 2 people can fit in a campsite sometimes more depending on the site and how you park. they are pretty big sites really and have 110 and 220 power as well as water.

Ha, they won't double as bed sheets but they are pretty big maps. And one of the reasons we are considering including them for everyone is that the proceeds go to trail maintenance. They are better than the windrock maps... Anything is better than a windrock map.

edit: trey beat me to the rest...

Yeah I probably would have gotten a map anyways -- I always somehow get suckered into leading a group even if I have no idea where I'm going, so it's good just in case. Plus it's sort of a nice souvenier, too. I still have the Windrock map in my truck even though it's all mangled.

They all sound like good Ideas. Let me know if you need help on any of those ideas.
93ish zj, d60s, 38.5 maxxis, and a bunch of other expensive parts to make them work.

I'm down for t-shirts, the campsite and the trail map. Not sure about the catered meal, knowing how we wheel and how a lot of others are you may not have everyone back when people want to start eating dinner. I think getting meals at the dairy hut is a little easier.

But I'm always down for BBQ.

Figured that was what the poll was for. If not you would just tell us what we're getting. Then you could have had it your way.

What are the current thoughts on what would be included in the catered meal? Burgers and dogs? Southern BBQ? Porterhouse steaks?

I vote Southern BBQ. I got a hankering for some pulled pork, gumbo, and fried okra.

We are leaning toward BBQ if we can find a place willing to deliver. We are having a tough time finding a nearby BBQ joint via the web, so wish us luck...

Burgers and hot dogs would be extremely unlikely-- the campground is right behind the Dairy Hut, which serves burgers and hot dogs. That is normally the go-to for most everyone on Thursday/Fri night etc. Might be nice to have some variety.

Another thought on the food though..Would it be easier/cheaper for somebody to bring a pig cooker or something? I know with all the rednecks in this group somebody's gotta have one...maybe even a home made one.
