I am at 8" of lift in my ZJ, 37" MTR's and Iron Rock Long Arms front and rear, I feel as though I may be too top heavy for these trails. What do you guys run for suspension and tire setups?

Also, does it cost extra to have a ride-along come with me?

(I might make it to GSW this year)

With 37's you could do most any trail that any sane person would take a full bodied rig on. Your front axle will be your limiting factor. For most of the hardest trails out there you will want your front axle locked, but a locked 30 on 37's is screaming trail liability on a lot of trails.

No extra cost for passengers. The rego fee is really for the Jeep, not the attendees.

From experience, I agree with Dave. My 30 front end was OK with 33s but anything larger was an axle break. In fact, anything larger than 33s would trash my unit bearings after 1-2 outings.

I am honestly not worried about the 30... And if I break a shaft I have spares. We run a lot of 30's in our group. V8's, 4.0's, built 4cylinders, locked, open, 35-37'' tires and we have not had many problems. A few of the guys have chromo shafts but other than that we have stock shafts. I am just asking about the height factor... I see a lot of pictures and everyone seems to be staying at 4.5 and 33's or 32's, but also without long-arms.

Is that just a money factor or do a lot of people actually flip at 7+ inches?

There's a fine line between short arms and long arms. For me, it's two reasons: I don't have the cash/ability to do LA's right now, and my ZJ is my DD, so there's really no need (right now) to have the extra flex that LA's give, not to mention I depend on it daily, so putting it on jackstands for a few weeks would screw me up. I'm used to the ride quality on the street with short arms, and am fine with it until I can afford LA's.

I would say the median tire size on here is 35" or so, but I just pulled that figure outta my ass. Most of the guys on here that have been up that high (7"+) find that it's excessive, and that you could drop it down an inch or three, trim alot, and have all the benefits of the full-sized lift.

Ex: jfowlzj95 is now working on one-tons, 37+ tires, and he's around 4". Granted, I don't know if he'll end up lifting it more, but that's the height he's planning on. Plenty of other guys on here are at similar stances.

Oh, and if you're pushing it hard enough, count on breaking a shaft. But remember that when the shaft breaks, it's not just your problem, but everyone in your group as well.

Eight inches is a little tall IMO, but it can be ran w/o issue if you pay attention to your line and spotter. The places that will really get to you are the off-camber sections. I forgot to look if you have quick disco's for sway bars, if so you can put them back in for those sections. It really depends on the trail.

There are a few that had more lift and reduced it to four to five inches at the most to keep the COG down.

    I'm at a hair under 6" and 35's...and 78" wide.

Lower is always better out here, but I've seen far worse than 8" and 37's.

If all goes according to plan I will be just over 6" of lift, on 33's,

I'm trying to follow the bouncing ball in someone's head that leads to the thought "yah, this will net about 11" of lift, it'll be fine"

that thing looks like it would roll over after it saw it's own shadow

I think I need to find the video of Cody's 3-story shitbox from way back when and the terrified look on his face every time it got remotely tippy (not to mention 1-wheel drive)

Yes, it was a tippy one wheel drive POS, and no you shouldn't dig out any videos. As far as anyone here needs to know, I've always had low lifts and have been a hard-core mother fucking rock-crawling god of awesomeness since my poor mother birthed my gigantic head.
