I have to adjust bumpstops regarding tire size and where I want the tire to stop under fender. If I set bumstops so tire stops wright beneath fender edge, then I loose part of downtravel…

What is more important, to have travel equal up and down or somwere there, or to have more of down travel then up travel?
Or I complicate stuff to much?

only cure there would to be to start trimming the fenders so you can get the tire up higher. there are plenty of ways to do so and still have it look clean

im no suspension guru, but id say with a radius arm setup like yours, you would want about equal up and down as travel is somewhat limited in your case to begin with. so you want to get the most out of bushing deflection and what not

once again i could be wrong. maybe wait for a response from someone who has built more suspensions

Decide how much you want to trim the fenders for the tires (which you will have to do to some degree unless you want it to be extremely tall with gigantic bumpstops) and do your trimming. Put the wheels and tires on the axles, cycle the suspension, and add your bumpstops where you need them to stop uptravel.

Mount your shocks in a way that keeps them from being completely bottomed out while the suspension is fully articulated (and on the bumpstops). I like to leave a bit of shock shaft exposed (1/2" or so) to ensure that they will not violently bottom out under any circumstance.

This will allow you to take full advantage of the travel offered by the shocks. Add limit straps of some sort so that you do not pull the shocks apart.

Also, most monotube shocks like yours are supposed to be mounted with the shock body up. I don't know if it will hurt the Bilsteins to be run that way, but my 5100s came with instructions to mount them body-up.

    I`m back

I had very little time and I`m doing all by myself so my build is going on slowly at the moment.

This week I manage to build case spreader and started to set gears. Today I think I found the wright pattern.
Now I have question what is better.
If I have backslash of 9 thous then my pattern is little of from middle and if I set it to 11thous then my pattern is perfect – wright on the middle of gear.
You can see on picture how my pattern is mowing
    11thous – perfect
9thous – more towards middle of gear

What do you think, is it better to have more backslash or perfect pattern?

    Also routed pipe for ARB

And painted axle with first coat

    To be continued...

Great work! Got them axles lookn sexy! What I estimated ride height? 4.5 plus 3? What size tire you plan on? sorry if u answered that already...

Question about arb line... Never installed one so I'm just curious. Why not run line straight out passenger side of diff vs. Over ring gear? I don't think its likely the two will ever meet... Jus caught my eye as a possible trail hazard. As I said you probably know better and itd take some kind of force for the Line to move at all if its even possible..

Excellent build. Can't wait to see some trail pics. Of you putting it to work

Sorry for late reply, lack of time

I will be running 33`s, maybe 35`s. Estimated ride height is aprox. 4.5+3 at this moment yes. I hope it will be lower...
If not, I can always try with original springs and see what I want next. 7.5 is too much...
I didn`t plan to have my spring mounted there when I was ordering them.

I put ARB line in there because of two reasons. One is because only there is flat spot on housing to mount it and second reason is because manual said so.

What oil do you guys run in D44 and 9inch? I need advice on what to buy...

P.S. At the moment I`m making SYE for 242 that will go under. Pics soon.

I run whatever the cheapest gear oil is at the time at the local tractor supply. 90w or whatever it doesn't make to much of a difference.

Ok, TC with SYE is installed (pictures tomorrow) and now I have a problem.
I`m searching for couples of hours now and can`t find answer.

I have old style 242 (90 XJ) which has only 2 pin connector for shit indicator, the 249 has 4 pin connector. Also switch on 242 is located beside speedo sensor.

Did anybody figure out how to connect different transfercase mode switch?

Fuly stuffed. I need 9cm of bumpstop (hockey pack)

I was lucky and manage to set arm length first time. There was no need for adjusting anymore. It fits pefectly.

NICE man work looks great! I don't think it's too high, I think you just need a bigger tire

    It`s final, I`m going to 35...

What do you think about Pitbull Rocker LT Radial?
I`m looking for 35x12,5x17. I`ve read only good things about this tires, only not so good thing is that they are much smaller in size. 37” tire is 35” inch high, 39” is 37”+…. But this is written only for bias LT tires, not for Radial.

In this pictures it seems like 35" is 35". Size difference, it seems, is only on bigger tires 35Pitbull Rocker vs. 35"BFG MT

    http://colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=126097

Does anybody has any info about this tires?

I like what I`ve read and how they look but price is not so nice. In my county 35” costs aprox 390$
