Nice rig. Is that a custom brace job on the 9" or a kit? Any close up pics of it?
Thanks SLO, I may have to copy that
Still picking away at this. My pitman arm came in so I should have the track bar & drag link clearance issue straightened out soon.
Do you have to use DOM tubing for a drag link?
Got my 38.5 Boggers on. Measured them on our balancer and the OD varied a lot. 36.90", 37.35", 37.45" & 37.75" with 30psi and 16x10 wheels. They are 38.5x15-16 and the are the same width as my 36x13.50-16 Iroks. Not sure how Interco comes up with their sizing but I'm happy they are this width.
Is it just the pic or does it sit an inch or 2 lower in the front?
That right there is a good looking Jeep.
That needs a car wash haha
Daaaaaaayum! dats nice.
Nice jeep. As far as the tires, I thought the sizing was the inner diameter of the mold the tire was formed in,and some contraction was normal. I know this does not explain the different sizes from tire to tire, maybe they cooled at a different rate after the vulcanizing proccess or something like that.
Sorry for the lack of updates!
So to fix my oil pan clearance issue I got a 3" XJ drop pitman arm from Rusty's Offroad. Moved my track bar frame bracket forward and down. Plated the frame with 3/16" around the new track bar mount and built the mount itself from 1/4" and welded it to the 3/16". No more clearance problem, tierod and track bar is almost flat with the ground, Jeep drives great!
Fuel mileage is crazy now compared to the I6! I have not worked it out yet but it kills the 4.0's mileage. Mostly under 1500 RPM around town. Lots of power for hills on the highway.
I was able to modify my stock shifter to work with all the 4l60E gears. The gating is all plastic in my shifter instead of metal so it was a pain but it works great now.

Wow what luck I have! Spun a rod bearing in the 5.3! Have a 07 6.0 sitting on the floor waiting with 50,000kms
Damn, that sucks. At least the hard part of the swap is done
Won't be much pain this time. I did everything so it was easily removable. Can't wait to get the 6.0 in there though.
Sucks about the 5.3 but sounds like you'll get a nice bonus out of it. Are you just having your computer reprogrammed with the 6.0's fuel maps? Is it an LQ4 or LQ9?
I do the programming with HP Tuners, just have to compare tunes and swap over the different stuff. I think it's just an LQ4. It's an odd one though. A 07 6.0, iron block, I checked the date code, June 06. it came from a 07 Silverado classic and it's not drive by wire. Weird.
I'm just pulling the wiring off the engine in vehicle this time so I don't have to mess with some of the hardwired factory fuse box stuff I did. I set it up so I could just unhook everything from the bottom upwards and throw the harness on the windsheild lol
I was going cam it but I think I will just drop it in. It's clean, low mileage so if I don't put my hands on it maybe it will be reliable for a while lol
How did you spin the rod bearing? The only ones I've heard of spinning were from over rev or beating on it while the oil was cold. I usually install arp bolts and let the motor warm up a bit before any hard work FWIW.
I never really had a chance to be hard on it. A couple weeks ago I started hearing a quick hard knock every time I let off the gas for a second. It got worse and now knocks all the time. I actually don't know what's wrong yet. But it's bad and it's in the bottom end.
Sucks. But cant wait to se the upgrade!
So we took at look at the pistons last night to see if it was a LQ4 or LQ9. Well what we saw surprised us. It's got LY6 pistons. I know the LY6 is supose to have VVT which mine does not. What's up with this thing?
I wonder what the power output is.
These are not mine but what mine look like.
Sounds like you've got a bastardchild 6.0. Are the LQ4 pistons dished more than the LY6 I guess?
Wonder if you have an LY6 that someone converted over to cable TB and ditched the VVT in favor of Gen III electronics. You could check to see if the cam is gundrilled to see if it really is an LY6... I would think it would be unlikely for someone to go to all that work unless it was not the original motor in that truck.
Does it have 317 heads?

It has 317 heads and the block is 12577184. So it's definitely a 07' LQ4 build June 06'. So it should be a bit higher compression. Instead of 9.4:1 it should be 9.6ish:1
Where did you get the motor from? Can you ask the previous owner?
