SOme more progress from tonight. 9" shackles. I'm making another set of 12" so i can play around with ride height and travel.

Man it's kind of a shame that all this clean work is going into leafsprings.

Sort of why I have a hard time getting excited about Jeepspeed, I'm sure it's fun to do, but it sucks you have to use inferior parts. I've never been much for rules though.

what dimple die set are you using? prefab or did you machine your own dies?

What Cam said. I dig seeing the fab you do, but man freestyle rigs are so much more fun to see fabricated.

The floor caging looks really good too, I like it alot.

i know what your saying. leafs suck. but i'm entering this class because it is so limited.

1/2 the fun is the competative nature of the class. the other 1/2 is finding ways to bend and beat the rules.

How tight are the rules? Does the rear have to be suspended only by the leaves or do they just have to be on there?

I'm thinkin main leaf only with shackles on the front and rear of the springs (so they can "float"), then have a 4 link and COs doing the actual work... Technically you'd still have leaf springs on the back

I'm sure I'm not the first person to think that, though. I love racing classes like those.

The rear:
the rear end must remain stock suspension with upgraded leafs being allowed.

ford guys are allowed to invert their shackles.
toyota and chevy are allowed to run the shackle pivot on top of the frame.

any length shackles are allowed.

The Front:
stock lowers
aftermarket uppers
no heim joints or uniballs

General:
2 shocks per corner. must be off the shelf non end user rebuildable shocks.


12" travel shock max.

its pritty limited.

Those limitations are pretty cool acually, like you said earlier, it's skills based. Racing the other drivers, not the other driver's checkbook.

Nah, more power to ya. I think competing within rules is where true skill shows itself. Not to bust any of yalls chops, but anybody can build a fast rig on links and coilovers. Fab skill and driving skill will show when everyone is forced into the same arena.

At any level you have to understand the parts you're using. So many people just buy nice parts and slap them on for 80% of the gain with 20% of the work.

But I agree, in an open class, it's not just drivers going up against each other, it's the builders too...

Also, are you planning on running that tank with the fuel line fittings facing the front? They should be facing the rear as to let the fuel slosh to the back under accelleration.

That truck looks like it is going to be a lot of fun. I'm jealous.

i will be running the tank that way. if it is aproblem i will install some of the walkbro pickups.

as for thw work...i dunno????? i just put my head down and go. i spend every other wakign moment thinking about what i'm goign to do next. so when it comes time to fab i do no thinking just doing.

this is very apparent. one of a fabricator's best tools is a restless mind

My problem is that my skills can't keep up with my restless mind. Great looking build, i love the idea of having to keep it basic so the drivers skill are more apparent when racing.

SLow going right now. I've been spending most of my spare time lookgin for a tow rig.

-Rear bumper tube is done. aluminum skid to follow later in the build.
-front tune for done until the motor go's in the hole.
-Door bars done
-Doors fit to door bars
-Front fenders all mounted up
-Hood skinned
