First things first. The final colour will NOT be red.
So its official. I sold the buggy and i no longer own a wheeler. A new trail wheeler is still in the plans but not till after i get a house. But as i'm sure everyone who knows me will know that i need to be building something.
Specs:
-1990 Regular cab Toyota 2wd
-22R motor (for now)
The Start
Ya i kow she's hawt.....almost a shame to chop it up.
and the Odometer still worked up till the time i pulled it out.
The motor only has 80,xxxKM on it.
Carnage has some new sheet metal for his build!
WTF is this shit for? If its not goign to make me go faster then its gotta GTFO.
and it will sit liek this until tomorrow night! then the grinding can start. All the BS box mounts that need to come off.

-Got all glass out cept the windsheild
-gutted the doors
-Cut all brackets off the frame and sanded nice and smooth
-Removes the gas tank
-Removed the inner fenders
-Gutted all the electrical
basically i'm ready to start on a cage.......whick shoudl be wednesday. I dont wana speak to soon but i'm hoping to work some long hours to have 90% of the cage done by the end of the weekend. We will see how long this plan lasts.
Holy shit you move fast. I'm pretty stoked to see where this goes!

ALso got a 1.5" Die. And i ordered a 1.25" and 1" die
heres the progress from last night
Well after a series of small plastic fires i called it quites tonight.
the main hoop is bent up and i must say its effin perfect. no pictures because where i placed the hoop mounts it run into the body mounts. i will have to sort that out tomorrow after work.
i'm off to go home to sit on the couch and try not to puke.
ok so heres the update from today......
got most of the cage done. Dropped it for 360* welding on all joints...
Lots of gussets will be added near the end of the build.
a view from inside the cab. Notice the cage does not impead the drivers view
a little write up on how i do my X-bars....
first put in the long piece (only tack it, its gonne come back out)....
then using tape layout the next two peices to complete the X. from one anchore point to the other. then mark where the tape crosses over the first piece
then put in your next two peices between the two marks
tack then weld the outside to hold the peices in place. (ewww...those welds will never hold! )
then remove the entire x and weld 360* around the joint.
looking good
thanks!
more from today. i only put in 3 hours. i needed to clean up the mess from the weekend and get home.
and the main hoop mounts to the frame.....
Ok Im loving it but whats it for? Racing series or just for fun? Cool either way! Forgive me if I sound retarded I blame Johnny Walker...Red
there is a league abotu 3 hours form my house that races. KORRBC Kamloops Offroad Racing of BC.
4 races a year plus a test and tune. and were working to get another 4 races a little closer to home.
its a very limited class which means you are not racing against the amount of money the other guy has. its almost all driver.
and most of the huy have been racing the same truck for 5 plus years. So i've got alot of cards stacked against me winning. but i'm gunning for some first place finishes. I'm super competative and i'm looking for a new challange.
Thats awesome. How are the restrictions set up? On the motor suspension or both?
both. i will explain when i'm not at work.
Ok, ...buy and sell what ever you want as long as the porn keeps coming. You keep my motivation level up.
Its lookn good!
Yota porn?
More progress today.....
a bit more on the bed cage. i will be adding two more pieces of tube from the leaf spring hangers to the node right behind the cab.
i've been sick as balls for the past week.
here is the progress form today.
...or fabrication Porn if your into them types of shit.....
Floor barts, seat mounted, seatbelt mounts for the lap and anti-submarine done
Rear Fiberglass mounted.....
gas tank support
battery support
Looks damn good! I want your shop....and tools.
Sweet fab work. I wish I could make half the progress you do on my junk when I get the time to work on it.
I understand the weight distribution thing, but are you not worried about the battery getting smashed back there if/ when you get "tapped" during a race?
I was more inclined to wonder why a source of ignition is mounted so close to a fuel source? You cant put the batt in the cab or further forward?
its a sealed battery. i'm not to worried. plus there is alot more bumper going on the back.
more update pics will follow from today. dimple dies are time consuming.
well i finished off the battery box and made some incredibly time consuming dimpled channles for the fuel tank straps.
anyone who doesn't think the BTF or Trail Gear optima battery box isn't worth the money is a fool. I LIKE building things, if i didn't the 50$ or what ever it costs is well worth the money.
no pics because i'm running off home to shower. i got tix for the canucks game.
the passenger side bedside needs to come in 1"
