Hello my name is Jacob and this is my WJ build.
Started off as a 2002 straight 6 WJ with 140,xxx original miles, and a refurbished engine with 35k on it.
Then ordered the IRO 3" Kit.
Ended up breaking the lower track bar bolt as I expected to:
Solved that problem buy cutting off the welded nut it screws into.
Death Wobble: After we cut off the welded nut we through in a random nut and bolt to replace the broken one…then the death wobble began. We have since replaced it with a grade 8 bolt with a nylon lock nut…and the death wobble continues. One of the other problems (besides the nut not being welded) is that the original lower track bar bolt was a shouldered bolt, which I have yet to find a replacement for.
Went wheeling the following weekend:
Then picked up a set of 4 265/75/16 BFG M/T’s for $150:
Rear tires rubbing on the shocks:
And that’s how the WJ sits now.
Future Mods:
-JCR Stage 2 Sliders
-Cragar Soft 8's
-Armor.

Wholy rusted metal Bat Man!
Looking good! Hopefully we can hit the trails again soon.
nice dub. way to get out on the trails and use it, too.
i doubt the lack of a welded nut or shouldered bolt on that trackbar bolt is causing the DW. if the hole is not out of round or enlarged in anyway, the bolt is of the correct diameter for the hole and bushing, and you are putting man-torque on it, that should not be your problem.
did the DW troubles start the same time you put on that set of $150 tires?

Nice rig! Do you have any pics from the side?
Have you had it alligned since you lifted it? That was my only issue when I lifted mine and had death wobble.
Also like Paul said, as long as that bolt isn't too small for the mounting hole, and you have it tight, then that shouldn't be your problem. If the hole is larger then the shank, then I would try to find that bolt with the larger shoulder (dealership) as that could be causing the issue.
Sweet looking WJ though! Glad to see it being abused like it should be
Thank You
Yes I have had it aligned, but am taking it back because the steering wheel is not straight when I am driving straight. I think you and paul are right that the bolt is a little small for the whole, I am in the process of trying to get that same shouldered bolt from the stealership.

Cool thanks for posting that. It looks very well proportioned with the tires. How are you liking the lift other than the dw. Also are the rc shocks the standard ones that come with the lift or are they the hydro upgrade? Sorry for all the ?'s that is the lift planned for my dub. Just a larger tire.
I am (so far) happy with the lift. Those RC shocks are the standard ones. It rides nice obviously a little stiffer than stock. It also squeeks a little if your going down a bumpy road. Expect to get either wheels spacers of wheels with more backspacing because the rear tires rub on the rear shocks at about 10"s of flex, ESPECIALLY if you plan on running a larger tire.

I'll have to see how close my tires are now. Im running JK 17's with the stock sra's right now. Im planning to go up to a 33-34" tire. I have already done a bit of metalwork to accomodate the larger tires but I hadnt considered the shock giving me issues. My build is called Lower 33" if your interested.
Little of an update...
Got the correct lower track bar bolt from Jeep and have not had any death wobble since.
Found out the front control arms needed to be replaced so that will hopefully be done friday.
Ordered a Rancho SS and spider trax wheels spacers that will hopefully be here on friday.
Hopefully going for a little shake down run this weekend

Glad to hear you got the dw fixed. The ca's could have been adding to that too.
We replaced the control arms and installed the Rancho SS and Spider Trax Wheel Spacer. After that we went for a little shakedown run in the first snow of the season
Had to remove the front bumper cover because the tires were rubbing on it when we turned because of the spacers.

You need some JKS quicker disconnects!!!...from me.
Pic Fix!!! Plz.
Pictures fixed, sorry was organizing my photobucket.
Looks good. I'll be updating mine soon. Broke/ruined some stuff on sat. Upgrade time
Hey can you post a pic or two showing how far the wheels stick out with the spacers plz? Im considering putting the silverblades back on with some spacers. You used 1.25" right? Tks
I wish I had thought of taking before and after pictures, but unfortunately did not. I would go out and take pictures but the jeeps in the shop right now, so for now this is the best I have.
