Hey Tyler...I was just curious, if I add a 6" body lift, and put 44's on my ZJ...how much will that increase my GVWR?

I always gut a ZJ before I wheel the thing. It seems to me that Grands pack more weight in terms of electronics and sound deafening material. Most of the stripping is done to the doors as the interior carpet is really the only other item aside from that.

As I was stripping the guts out of the doors on the Pacifier I decided to to find out exactly what I was gaining. That night I took some stuff into work to weigh it on our highly accurate scale. This is the kind of scale that lives in a controlled temperature environment. So as to retain calibration. The results of my experiment are posted below.

All parts are from an OBD1 (93-95) rig.

Rear window wiped motor assembly minus wiper arm: 2.405 pounds

Rear side door window regulator assembly complete: 3.735 pounds

Rear side door main glass: 6.500 pounds

Rear side door opera window complete with it's frame piece: 4.050 pounds

That is all I took with me to weigh. Seems like you could lose almost 20 pounds out of the rear side doors once everything is gone. This is weight that was high and on the very outside of the vehicle chassis, most negatively effecting COG.

    Just thought I'd share.

Front door window regulator assembly complete: 5.485 pounds.
96 ZJ based buggy, coming soon.
96 ZJ on 36s, broke in half.
    97 ZJ on 31s, DD
94 ZJ on 33s, temporary pacifier.
91.5 Dodge Cummins on 35s, tow rig.

Yeah....I run no doors or glass (besides the windshield and sunroof) so I'm thinking that shaved the most weight.

Oh and thanks for the bump of this

How much weight did you put back on with the tube doors?

Tube doors are a rare sight in my neck of the woods. They expose too much of the A and B pillars and allow them to catch on stuff in the trail. Gutted factory doors weight almost nothing and provide a somewhat smooth surface to slide along. My last ZJ only had a half door on the driver side for this very reason.

It all depends on the type of wheelin you do. I see you are in Utah and probably don't have to deal with wedging your ZJ between two trees that killed both doors on the Sami in front of you. You get to have Moab which is far superior to what we have here.

No idea, the tube doors were light. Plus my ZJ doesn't look like that anymore.

My guess is gain, but not too much. Maybe 75lbs? I'm finishing the other boatside this weekend
