My roommate's TJ has gone through some major Arizona wheeling the last few years. Marty has done a four link in the front and a leaf spring conversion in the rear.

Well like any leaf spring conversion done, we are cutting it off and four linking the rear. Almost every run Marty has done with the leaf springs he has broken it in some form or another.

We cut the frame off last week and today I built a BTF copy of their 14 bolt truss kit. We need more area for the upper link tabs so this one was made with some unusual 4 1/2" width 1/2" thick plate steel.

Tomorrow I plan on getting the frame pieces cut and tacked into place.

Going to use a Ballistic Fab yoke guard and tie it into the truss. Just like the Blue Torch Fab 14 bolt truss.

Are you going to use tube for the rear section of the frame? or just dove tail the frame with box?

Frame is done. Constructed making the assumption the body is straight in some locations and the existing frame is only a 1/8 to a 1/4 racked.

I reused the old rear bumper.

Welded the truss to the table and welded the outside seams. Put three passes on each joint then ground them smooth. I will weld the inside seams tomorrow.

Welded the underside of the truss and added some fish plates.

Looking good Chadwick! That frame ought to outlast the rest of the rig.

Is the rest of the body/ cage hard-mounted to the frame, or is it in the works? Threads like this make me want to backhalf my YJ before I even get the damn thing put together.

Body sits on stock mounts. But the cage feet are tied in to the frame at most locations.

Chad, it looks great, but this progress is coming along way too fast. I think you need to admit that Doc Emmett Brown is helping.

    Thanks.

Funny you mention that. The Back To The Future Trilogy is my favorite movie series of all time!

First of all i could be wrong but im pretty sure that is everyone's favorite movie series.

But on a serious note your fab work is always exceptional. Have you had any thoughts of starting up a little production business or something utilizing your skills and free time? I know on a local basis its starting to work out well for me and my partner. We found that there are a lot of people out there who have the money and the desire for quality protection and suspension products but dont have the time or skills to do it all themselves and dont want to purchase the same (expensive) stuff that everyone else already has on their rig. It's working out really well right now especially while it is still difficult to find a job. Just wondering, but either way keep up the good work man. [/RANT]
