I want/need to get my 242 higher. It hangs a bit too low, I have seen some clock a 231 to get more clearance.

Anybody know of some good info on how to for a 242? Maybe a clocking ring? I saw somewhere someone said you can just re drill the holes and turn it.

I have looked long and hard but have sume up empty handed.

Hmm... I saw what you posted in the other thread. I may make one, may buy one. I don't know yet. Either way it's getting done.

I need to do some research. I read somewhere there is a slight difference between 231 and 242 stock mounting angles... making the rings different? IDK.

But thanks alot for the info and adobe files

Anybody see any reason this wont work? Seems like a good price.

Never heard of them but no it doesn't look like too bad of a price. I didn't really read it over...just glanced at the pic and price.

I usually source all my clocking rings and adapters from Novak. D300 clocking ring is $122.

I'd buy it for the extra cash knowing it is from Novak, and bought through a reputable vendor. I just want to make sure it'll work for my 242.

Only thing I don't like about the Novak one is it is so long, 7/8" takes alot of the spline engagement away, unless I got a new shaft, but thats not what I want. The thinner the ring the better.

well, I found a guy on pirate selling rings that'll clock a 242 if a 300 or 231 will bolt to my tranny at only 61.00 shipped! Looks like I will be clocking my t-case! My belly skid is going to be WAY up there now.

I'll let you guys know how it works out.

I have been planning to give my WJ a tummy tuck and had considered a clocking ring also. Im just not sure how much angle the front d/s will take since it is the factory one with the rezeppa type cv joints. Are you running a double cardan style front d/s?

Me or the OP? I did the tuck but didnt clock the case. The front ds wont take the angle. I'll have to wait until I install a hp front axle.

I would love to see how this turns out. I'm going to have a 2 inch lift and wonder if I could get away with clocking mine up a little. The Tcase is always the first thing that hits...

Even at 2" the front ds may not like being clocked up. Only one way to find out.. Of course you have a zj so you could bolt in a hp30 so do it all at once.

Yeah, my only problem is that 2 inches may not be enough to run a HP diff under full compression.

I think I'll roll with the factory skid.

Lift it more than 2" then. Youre going to anyway. Just skip the bb step.

Just get a Clocking Ring Great Lakes Off Road (you can find them on Pirate) $65 shipped. You get the ring and all the hardware its a great buy.

I did use a dead blow hammer to make a little more room above the 242 so I could clock it more. I got over 2 inches more ground clearance and only used the middle clocking position.

I was a little thrown off by the fact they said it was for the D300 and the NP 241 and the 208.

Are they the same size as a 242?
