Not really difficult at all coming in from Marble or Crested Butte. Any stock SUV should be able to do it.

WOW, great pics and writeup, Dave! Seeing those pics reminded me of GSW 01, which was my first. Gotta get back to CO again.

When you get a chance, it would be nice if you'd share some of your insights into making a trip like that more practical next time.

Oh, and that wheel - ummm, that seems to be a habit with you...

Finally got a chance to read about the trip, nicely done and it sounds enjoyable. Was the Devil's Punch Bowl very rocky? The bottom looks like it has been groomed a bit. Realizing that 2001 I did it on 29's w/o lift and the next time was 2004 on 31's and a BB it seemed like the Forest Service took some of the edge off of the road then and the current pictures look like even more edge has been removed. Hopefully it is just the way pictures make obsticals look not as bad.

When you were planning this I was wondering how the trailer would do going up the narrow rocky section of Pearl Pass, but it looks and sounds like it did well. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Dave.. again thanks for the write up.

I'm planning a stop here this coming Sept on my way back from White Rim trail and Lake Powell. I found a site just north of Taylor Park Res in 98 that i'll be revisiting and hitting some of these trails.

Pearl is a high priority. I was thinking Taylor, Pearl and Kebler? for a single day loop. Is this doable without a huge rush?

How are you planning on making a loop out of that? If you start at Taylor Park and go over Taylor to Ashcroft where you pick up Pearl Pass and then go over to Crested Butte and over Kebler to Paonia you would have to completely backtrack, or go take the highway back to Aspen and then go down to Ashcroft and over Taylor again.

I'm thinking you have Kebler confused with I believe it's called Italian Creek. Kebler heads west out of CB, where I think it's Italian Creek heads back up to the Taylor Park area from CB.
