started to hack it up today. lots of work ahead of me but will be FUN.
could end up like this
WOW, when you said hack it up you weren't kidding!. Looking forward to chronciles of the next stage of its life.
talk is cheap. we were talkin about it for a while today at the shop...then i was like damnit! GET THE SAW!!!!!!!!!
What shop do you work at?
haha! One rock race and you are hooked!!
lol. if the front turns out good ill do D pillar and window cut. im building the cage as im doin the chopping as well. taking out the windsheild tomorrow to get some tube in place before the new one goes in. still trying to keep the doors operational too. might use the removable peices that are out there for that.
also doing front long arm hopfully this week. ill use factory bushings for now. ill machine my own ends out of tube to accept the clevite bushing (sp) going to push it forward a lot. might chop the back to keep shorter wheelbase with front extended. i wanted to chop the front at the front of the motor but my friends convinced me to not.
also i think for rock racing i will be needing more motor. this is just a dreamy idea but could very well be fabbed up. LS2 TT plenty of room now!
i work at virginia railing and gates in the air park
hooked on rock racing

Big change from last weekend! Keep it up.
The hi-lift handle on the tierod really adds to the custom look!
sweet!
More cutting and tube!!
Looking good!
Damn, I think your saw-zaw blade is a little dull from the looks of the hood. Its amazing how one oops can change the whole plan for your build.
cut it perpendicular to the frame near the coil bucket. after i plate the whole "frame" i will run a tube along the cut to the tube fender to the frame and weld the sheet metal/coil bucket to the tube. that should hold that. couldnt get much work in because shop closed for holiday.
we have a bender but then the dye broke so i was just crushing it with the roller cause i didnt wanna mess with it. it was pissing me off
got new dye so ill be using it agian...
Yeah I was gunna say...
a little bit more plate. ill be working on it all week so check back for updates
i was thinking about trying to "box" around the frame in front of the firewall to the bumper. since there is a void on the inside i was thinking weld a peice of sq tube in there to fill it then plat the inside and around underneath. OR IS THAT GOING TO FAR? im not too worrried about wieght because im trying to keep it as light as posible as i go so i have room to play with (add more sutff along the way)
i will finish the outside for now and see where it goes from there.i just got a bunch of sweet torch sawzall blades so ill end up getting out of control with that soon.
who thinks ill be able to get an inspection?

should I take off the trac bar bracket plate behind it and put it back?
after staring at pics i think im going to undo what i did to the driver side and peel the outter plate from the factory off near the steering box to bring everything on the same plane and use full peices of 1/4 and get longer bolts.

got some work done today. im slow.
some tube in there to reinforce the coild bucket...will be workin on it the rest of the week. hope to get the lights in it soon.
gonna shoot some braces across the motor soon. cant wait for those
questions.
Did you stitch weld those plates on the uni, then stitch again to make full welds? You really shouldnt do continuous welds on the uni because if the weld cracks, or fails, it will run down the length of the weld.
Are those tubes you but welded together, sleeved? I don't see any holes with weld in them on the tube.
Looks good man, I wish you would cut that kink out, while it really isnt going to effect that much, it would LOOK 10x better and be a bit stronger to redo it.
Feel free to bring it over here and we can do work on it.
Good job man, just giving some constructive criticism
