It might be. Although I haven't noticed any excessive vibrations or anything. I'll check them next time I head out.

The 44a is out, 8.8 will be going in the coming week. Will need to get a longer driveshaft, along with other miscellaneous crap. Oh, and one of my tranny lines exploded while backing up the driveway, lame.

    How it looks now:

8.8's in, got my driveshaft extended, and got my new wheels. Lucky for me, all 5 tires and the new wheels fit into an XJ. Now it's time to break in the axle w/ some street miles.

Yeah, I'm glad to have it running too! And he's definitely happy, now he just wants all my old crap cleaned out of the garage! We'll see about that though...

    A small update:
Made the 70 or so mile drive back to college, no noticeable differences between the old axle and this one. I think this one MIGHT have a slight hi-pitched noise while at high speeds, but I'm not really worried about it. I think I remember reading a while back that the first oil change on breaking in an axle should be sooner than the usual increment, anyone have any recommendations on how soon I should pop the cover?

IIRC it was like 500 miles or so if you run a traction aid or something like that. But i would check it after a few days by dipping my finger in the oil and checking for metal flakes. If everything looks good, just run it till you notice that oil looks a little rough.
93ish zj, d60s, 38.5 maxxis, and a bunch of other expensive parts to make them work.

Went wheelin' today. Had a great time with some guys from the local forum, a few JKs, a CJ-5, and a K5. No major problems with the rig, other than the fact that the rear suspension binds ALOT. It clunks when articulating, but I guess I'll just get used to it. The 231 and 8.8 performed awesome. And since it was in the 30's outside, the engine kept its cool.

No carnage other than a dented/torn bumper cover and broken turn signal (from a tree on the driver's side), and scrape down the right (from an adjacent tree on the pass. side). Can't wait to do it again! I didn't take any pics, Jon took a few, and some guys on the local forum probably got some. Will post up here when I find them.

Found out a couple things, David needs to ditch his mall terrains for mud terrains, and don't let me spot the first 1st minute on the trail.. especially around mud.

Like David said, didn't get many pics... too lazy to get out of the Jeep.

    Posing on the WEROCK course.

David's favorite Jeep, an XJ with a frame and booty fabbed exo.

yeah it was kind of a last minute thing. we were gonna go to bvorr, but it was rained out. Are you a member of the katy chapter of tx4wd? that's where I found out about the trip, I think Jon saw something in his chapter too (whatever one he's in).

EDIT: are you redoing your steering?

haha yeah that was a graceful drop-in. I got caught up on the damn donavee/trailer hitch. oh and the fact that the guy was spotting me said nothing until my front tires slipped off the ledge (then he said "dropping" ) made it look even more ray charles-esque

EDIT: That was a fun park, I wish I could go back but they closed it down
