zj95 has a new hoe.
radiator's supposed to come in wednesday, should be getting a half dozen boxes of goodies later on in the week!
And the parts pile begins to grow!
First package arrived
It came with a cat.
Haha no, my mom actually found that little guy running around the school where she teaches. His name's Buc-ee
Rad will be going in tomorrow, depending on if I feel like working in 100* heat (with humidity) or not.
New radiator is in. Install went a hell of a lot quicker than when I did it the first time, and it took me only about 30 min to get the "semi-old" one out. However, I had the same problem installing the all-metal as I did with my last one: the holes on the KOR rad support aren't the right spacing, one of them is about 1/4" off . After trying to wiggle it in, I said screw it, and hacked off one of the posts like I did with the last radiator.
Side-by-side:
Depth comparison: The new CSF has a 1/2" thicker core than the OEM replacement, as well as it is a great deal heavier.
I also used this time to replace my leaking tranny lines, so all in all a productive day.
Edit: If anyone has a use for a year-old plastic tank radiator (maybe for a rig you're trying to sell or something), I have one you could throw in. Definitely don't recommend it on anything that sees trail time.
Oh wait, what's this???????????????????????????
Christmas!
Is it installed yet?
BTW your control arms are bent.
That's some good lookin pron David
Alrighty, got em all disassembled and cleaned up.
____________
A couple questions: First: I know, I know, they're gonna be bashed on rocks and stuff, but for when I'm cruising the malls, I want em to look good . But seriously, what do y'all recommend for the rust on this, as well as the flex joint ends (visible in first pic). Just scrape the rust off and put some sort of clear coat over it? I really don't want to respray them entirely, unless I can find a similar color.
_________
Second, should I replace this bushing while I have it off of the heep?
Thanks in advance, guys!
Replace it before it gets any worse, so then you won't have a 'clunk' whenever you accelerate from a stop.
Got the rear t-bar and shocks today. one small concern though, there's a little gash on the t-bar.
It's about an inch long, maybe 1/8" deep. Not enough to break through, and the track bar looks like it's about 3/8" thick. I know the pics suck, but it's the best I could get.
Should I try to sleeve that section, since I know there's a lot of force put on the trackbar, or not worry about it? I'll try to take some better pics if they're needed.
Edit: The last pic is probably the best for judging how deep the cut is.

I wouldnt really worry about it, if you wanna do something quick, just throw some 1/2x1/2" angle iron on there and stitch it. That will stiffen it up, but honestly, it will be fine like it is.
As for the rust on the control arms. Sand it with an angle grinder( like an 80grit flap wheel) and repaint the whole thing if you want it all one color. A metallic silver would look similar to the other ones, noone will notice.
Looks good.
Mail it to me, I will weld some shit to it, and mail it back
But really, it looks like you got a fun weekend ahead of you. Is there a date of install?
Bring it to Austin since my Heep can't make it out to CS, I'll install/weld/etc. it for ya.
Painted the LCA's, turned out pretty good IMO. Replaced the worn bushings as well.
Also painted the coils, rear track bar, and shocks.
Almost time for the swap, expecting some Moonworks and KOR gear in the near future!
