Damn looking good J,
Like the skids, nice work. You might want to go with some flat style allen bolts so they dont get hung up or sheered off on a rock.
I'm amazed no one sells that skid for the gas tank yet. How much did metal cost and time involved?
Looking good man, that bumper is awesome
finished up this morning really like how it turned out:
some pics of the wiring:
how i mounted the rad skid welded one side to bumper and counter sunk 3/16 to the rad support:
all done:
mounts:
brought my front end down 1/4" lol yet the bumper weighs less than 100 lbs...IRO's coils are really soft i guess..
yea i didnt think u could countersink 3/16 to make allen bolts flush but after the bumper i found out u can so im going to do the same thing to my tc skid eventually...
the material for the gas tank skid cost like 30$ i think and it took me a decent amount of time to make it since i worked on it whenever i got a chance..
You should cut off the sheetmetal that hangs down on either side below the bumper or flat black it. You did too nice of a job on the bumper not too.
good work on the bumper!
wow that looks really clean. i wanna build a bumper similar to that but with a winch mount. kudos on the fabbin skills
thanks guys i finally have a set plan...im staying at 3-4" already trimmed my rear fenders and started rear bumper...tire carrier parts came in today from AtoZ and im picking up an 8.8 this week with 4.10s and discs..gonna run 33x10.5 km2s most likely...
8.8 is in and working...The guy who did it did a great job, drives exactly the way it drove when i dropped it off very happy with it..here are some pics:
its pretty much all set to go if i ever want to run a 4 link...i had to get 2" wheel spacers made and convert the pattern to 5x5..the way i have the speedo/abs now is i ditched the ABS in the rear and have it getting its speedo through the front...no wires were cut the guy who did it just swapped the pins in the harness around...the endlinks needed to be lengthened so he sleeved them and had to use spacers on the mounts to clear the shock mount bolts...ill probably just end up ditching the swaybar since im only realizing now the chances of it getting ripped off..he was also able to use the 8.8 discs..
and here are the tires, my lady approves:
it looks like its going to be close even with the front trimmed, i have 2" spacers i may end up throwing in if it ends up being close but i dont have money for front long arms or longer shocks yet so who knows...
looking good man....do you have a pic of the 242 with the tom woods SYE installed?
Cool cant wait for pics of tires installed!
Update?
yeup heres a pic with the 33's and trimed bumper/fenders...gonna put an aussie in the 8.8 most likely and have to finish the rear bumper..
Cool looks good. Trimming looks clean too.
flex pics:
still need to trim some more inside the front fenders and extend my bumpstops another inch or so, here is a pic of the rear im building...all the cosmetic sheet metal has since been cutout i could not get the 16g steel to work..kept burning through and warping it so im redoing it with 1/8"...hopefully it will be done soon...
yea its huge looking but once the tire carrier is on itll look better i think...i didnt want to trim all metal behind the rear hatch..
stayed late after work, almost finished the tire carrier...still have to add gussets, tire mount, latch, and the top piece is not going to be nearly that high...
getting closer:
go to open the swing arm and open the rear hatch i find that its hitting the tire needing ~ 1/2" to clear it:facepalm:
i thought i checked everything over i think the combination of getting the tire real close to the window, and the angle i made it sit at is what screwed me...im thinking im gonna redo the swing arm and make the tire sit offset to the driverside instead of in the center...bummer
Looking slick. Did you bring it closer to the rig? I doesnt look like it sticks out as far.
u should make the tire sit higher if u can .... mine is about where that is and I tend to smack the tire on rocks lol
finished the rear bumper finally, with the exception of high lift mount, license plate mount, and some kind of spring lock for when its open:
