Finally got my wheels in today! Only problem is, they didn't come with the RAD valves i wanted, so i guess i will be adding those myself. Man these sucker are pure beef! 45 lbs each, and aluminum. No wonder they use them on trophy trucks!





No welds on these beads!






Now they just need some powdercoat treatment!

Testing out the flex to see how bad the tires are rubbing with the very minimal trimming i have done thus far:


Here is where we had to stick the rear spring back in, since they dropped out 3 times that trip: (left sway bar connected, so rear end did all the flexing, and since i still have the bastard shocks, there isnt' much holding back from serious droop)

Welding to a stock one on the trail with three batteries brings the suck.

Finally got the wheels mounted. I spent all day yesterday adding the Monster Valves, and getting them mounted up. The center caps finally came today, so i will get those coated to match, and some new lug nuts when i get them balanced at discount. Even though, with no balancing, they run just like they did on the stock wheels, even at 70 mph on the freeway..

Little bit wider stance due to the 9" rim width versus the 7" stockers






The tires make a little more road noise now, but nothing annoying. Even without them balanced it drives great on the street.

They look great man! I picked up OMF performance about a month ago now as a new vendor. Sold a couple sets of the Rock Domes but haven't sold a set of walkers or any of the old wheels they supply me with yet...quoted a few though!!! They aren't the cheapest in the world but they are damn nice like you mentioned.

The powder coat treatment you gave them is very original for sure.

thanks for the compliments guys.. the wheels are top notch in quality. the bead lock rings have specially machined seats for the bolts, since the rings get bent in like a cone as they get tightened on. The only thing i didn't like was the fact that they had a "made in china" stamping on them. That kinda made me dissapointed to spend that much on wheels that weren't made here. The rings and work that OMF did is all USA stuff, but the castings on the wheels were done in China.. i kinda lost some respect for Walker Evans. I know they used to be made here, but not any more i guess. But its hard to compete in the wheel business and not have them made in china.

I don't even have them balanced yet, and they are just as smooth as my stock wheels that were balanced..

Its my daily driver, and i live in Tempe, and work in Mesa near Alma School and Broadway.

The fender trimming will commence once i get retainers made for the coils. I have already dropped the rears out a couple times, so i need to lock them down so i can get even more flex, then take measurements for the shocks, and do the trimming.

Ok.. another weekend went by with more work done..

Got the new track bar mount welded in and installed... as well as Kevins HD Tie Rod..









It drives like ass right now, since the drag link isn't flipped over yet, but i will be doing that tonight.. gotta rent a tie rod end puller, and do some drilling and reaming of my spindle and pitman arm.

I also fabbed and installed my coil spring retainers:











and i decided to use some exhaust clamps on the upper rears. LOL



I think i might vinyl dip the ends of the hook style ones, so they don't make noise..

I made 1 set of extras if anyone is interested.

I would recomend not capturing the coils top and bottom. Unless you like replacing coils every other month. Weld a nub on the upper coil bucket.


Why did you bother keeping the steering dampner?

I know springs meant for compression dont like to be extended, but its not that dramatic is it? I mean its probably only going to stretch a few inches

They will only get stretched a couple inches... and rarely.. If i just lock them in on one side, then they will flop out, like they have done already on the rear. The front hasn't come out, but my shocks i have right now only droop 2" lower than ride height, so they aren't coming close, but i want to fit the longest shocks i can, and i know it flexes beyond the lenght of the coils i have... Is stretching the coils a bad thing?

Plus, i don't want them moving around either when they do get unloaded.

as far as the steering dampener, i just decided to leave it. I will probably upgrade to something stiffer anyways, for doing more higher speed stuff..
