the lowest part of the bumper is no lower than where the unibody frame holes are... the stock bumpers lowest part is way lower than that point

But it sticks out waaaaay further than the stock bumper ever did. If it's lower and further back, it may not necessarily play as big of a role as something that is higher up and farther out.

true true... but it sticks out just enough to fit that monster winch on there... i didnt really want a 12000 pounder, but i got it for free so i cant complain
i always come to this site when i need critics... i thought i might have actually built something yall would approve of, but so far it sure seems like i was wrong

The basic concept of the bumper appears to be sound, and if it works for you great. But that approach angle would hold me back on many obstacles.

You built a stinger. If you do something like that you need to have thicker skin.
I understand the need to fit that big winch in there, but you didn't have to mess it up by making it a stinger
I think everytime someone makes a bumper with a stinger, God kills 6 baby Koala's.

It looks functional, so thats good I just don't personally like the looks of it. If you had raised the top of the double bars so it was almost level and put the fairlead in between the upper and lower it woulda been sweet.

Well if you want to play, then lets play. How about raising your winch plate? I see you brought some plate out your unibody rail to mount your winch plate on. You could always cut those pieces so they angle up another 2-3 inches and weld your plate on their. Use some gussets to make sure the strength is there. What do you accomplish from this? You can bring your tubing level across the front to tie into the winch plate instead of dipping down to accomodate for it. Another bonus would be increasing the approach angle as others have said. I was just stating and observation. These guys know what they are talking about - I'm still learning too. So, if you want constructive criticism - there ye be.

Tell us what your new approach angle is in numbers vs what your old approach angle was. Looks to me it sticks out more than stock.

are you planing on tying the stinger into the firewall or somewhere else, so if you do nose into something it doenst just fold up and into your hood?
and ha ha, as for approach angle... just lift your jeep higher!!

I will say that it looks like you did a good job in the fabrication, but I have to agree that the tubes on the sides give the illusion that it is bent down (the whole bumper). But major props for doing it yourself and not buying one off the shelf.
And pugs freak me out too...
