All the strength is in the Iron Y on the drive side. So it is unessesary to have one on the pass side. The lower control arm is really strong to keep the axle in position. The Iron Y secures the pinion angle. quote=ZJones;231559]I don't understand why there is only one upper? Can someone explain that to my newb ass?[/quote]

Is it safe to assume that you are from Ironrockoffroad, Wildman? I assume so just from you being in Minnesota.

Yeah but the reason to run ONE arm instead of TWO is because there is no binding with IRO's setup. If you swap in a different front axle you'd better build a hell of a mount for it though. When I first swapped in my d44 all I had was a pass side upper mount because I didn't want to build a truss. I will admit right off the bat that I had a shitty design. I didn't think the mount would be receiving any lateral loading, which I was apparently wrong about. Two peices of 1/4" plate with a tube welded in up top for a bushing insert, and a 3/16" gusset. Although I bet if the brackets didn't have the logo's cut in them it would have lasted. Either way, 20/20 hindsight and I have it built correctly now.

My main concern is the one caster adjuster. If that thing breaks on the trail and you don't have a replacement then what? I know it's 1/4 steel but look at AgitatedPancake's mount that's made outta 1/4, bent up like an unprotected rocker panel with a noob at the wheel.

I was talking to Kevin (wildman_wilds) last night about the caster adjuster and after looking at it some more, it is stronger than I originally thought. My concern was not it necessarily breaking on the trail, as there's a bushing in the UCA mount to absorb some of the impact, but losing the adjustment and having the adjuster loosen up and having your angles go apeshit.

There's 3 bolts on the bracket, one holds the bracket to the UCA/radius arm, the bolt on the bigger arc attaches to the UCA mount on the axle, and then the 3rd bolt is in the smaller arc and acts as the locking mechanism for the adjustment. The two arcs are setup in different planes per se, and the way it's setup they can handle a lot of push/pull type forces which is mostly what they will see as the axle tries to rotate. There may be some very slight pre-loading of the UCA bushing because the radius arm is fixed to the lower, but I doubt it would be enough to cause significant damage.

I know somebody with the front LA's on his cherokee and he hasn't broken any of that stuff yet. Even after getting the front of he jeep knocked off by a military cop which bent his unirails from the spring perch forewards, the arms and stuff survived fine and still drove ok once he got the frame pulled back out. There's no visible damage.

I'm running IRO's premium LA kit on my ZJ
and I'm seriously in love with it. It has been performing flawlessly for two years now, and the only
problem I had was that those grease valves are to close to the walls of the mounts and my grease gun wont fit there.
Oh yeah, rear upper arms are good at eating up their bushings. These are OEM rubber bushings at both sides on each arm and they wear out relatively fast.
I'd put Johnnys at least on one side.

That caster bracket is really nice, you'll have to put some thread locker onto those bolts though

After using this kit I fully agree with the description IRO uses for this kit - ridiculous !!!
    Articulation is incredible
