Looking to upgrade my steering when I fix it. What does everyone recommend?
hydro
Well i decided to go with a 1 ton steering kit from East Coast Gear Supply (http://eastcoastgearsupply.com/i-427...ering-kit.html) and I decided to keep the y-link versus going to crossover, mainly for ease of install. I have also heard crossover steering on a waggy 44 can be a PITA.
I ordered the kit yesterday, and it was at my door today... now that is fast!!
ECGS got me my 8.8 gears and install kit for a price I won't even post and to my door in two days. Anybody need shafts, gears whatever hit up cperry on pirate4x4. com he will treat you right.
Chase is an awesome guy.
Well I finally got my insurance settlement check, now time to buy parts. I already have the 1 ton steering from ECGS, and I just ordered a new track bar and bushings from KOR, I also ordered a Clayton belly skid.
I also ordered two new wheels (my spare wheel needed to be replaced anyway), and one 35" Trxus MT (back ordered for 4 weeks).
Hopefully the repairs will start soon, just need to have the jeep towed to my buddy's shop.
So they total it or just give you money to fix it based on damage? Glad to know i'm not the only one waiting on tires to get here.
You get the money less a "crush" fee which is basically what they would have gotten for scrap on the jeep. So they deduct that from the total, hand you a check and you keep your vehicle (but now it does have a salvage title)
ah ok thats good you got some money to fix her up again.
Hell yeah, hopefully she will be better than before and ready for URE April 1st!
Hell ya hopefully I can get my rig together before the end of may man!
Like the new avatar!
LOL thanks man!
Yea that is the shitty part, your vehicle has a salvage title afterwards so the resale is affected. For some its not an issue but I would second guess myself every time I added an expensive item to it.
Sorry if this post seems kind of random but after reading of your misfortune the other day I was thinking about what I would do if I were in your position.
For me, I will never sell mine, if I ever wanted to get rid of it I would strip it, then send it to the crusher... not much of a market for a banged up 1993 ZJ with a 4.0 anyway So I am going to continue to throw money at it haha
I don't get a new title that says "salvage" on it, but if I were to ever sell it, then the new owner would get a salvage title for it. Probably the same for you unless there is a different law in CO.
was just woundering if you sold old after market rear bumper if not how much would you want for it
Yeah man, I sold it, right now the only bumpers I have are the ones on it
damn it oh well guess ill have to stick with my crapy bumper then oh ya your jeep looks great
Thanks man.
10-4 yea I always say Im never selling this one.. But it never works out that way for me. Im a car/truck whore I guess. Im 31 years old and have owned like 26 vehicles.
LOL, I have owned my fair share of vehicles, but this ZJ has always had a soft spot in my heart
I am also contemplating a hybrid internal/external cage for the jeep just in case I roll her on the trail (both to keep my noggin safe, and to keep her form being totaled again ha ha).
Werd..
Do it man but make sure you buy a bender so I can make a cage for mine too!
