It all started when I decided I wanted a jeep. Coincidentally, my girlfriend already had one - and it seemed stupid to have two.
So we made a deal - I bought her a BMW and I inherited the ZJ. Win/Win!
It started it's life with me looking like this :
Stock, low, little tires, and boring. The first thing I did was an IRO f/R w/ some used BFG 32's off CL. Ended up looking like this:
Much Better! Problem is, with that stock front bumper and the 32's I couldn't really do anything w/o some serious rub. Solution?
That's the condition it was in when I took it out for the first trip. Didn't get stuck, but almost...

On that trip, I realized that a solid, high clearance rear bumper would be a good thing too. So I started this:
Good clearance, hitch, will add a tire carrier next. Not completely done welding either - switched to stick for this 'cause its about 10x faster.
I've also had ongoing DW, so I replaced all 4 TRE's, all 4 BJ's, and all 8 front control arm bushings. It was the lower CA bushings that made the biggest difference - but I still get a little wobble with it.
While I was in there, I boxed the lower from CA's.
I don't know if this really helps anything - but they are a lot heavier now
So here is how it sits today:
Next project is going to be getting the stock exhaust up and out of the way. When you get a decent clearance bumper on there it's really clear how much that exhaust just hangs down there waiting to get ripped off.
Oh yeah, and don't even start about the Obama sticker I don't usually like to broadcast my political affiliations but it was my GF's and I'm not especially motivated to take it off... yet. Besides, gotta have something to seperate myself from all of the toothless hicks you find on trails around here
So... being someone who doesn't like Obama, and wheels, makes me a toothles hick?
It's hard to take you seriously.
EDIT: rig looks good, too bad your savior would rather support legislation that it should be a hybrid and prevents you from getting replacement parts.
I got all of my teeth don't like obama....
You started it... But the jeep looks good.
Updates:
Power! 1.2kW inverter installed under the pass side rear seat. All weather plug on the bumper allows me to run various things while camping. Inverter has enough balls to run my sawzall, which I'm afraid will end up being useful.
(Not me)
Also got a gas tank skid on that I picked up at the junkyard the other day. Instead of wrangling it AND the bumper back on, I decided to just weld it to the damn thing.
That's all for now Still need to fix that damn exhaust.
Also got a code P0743 today, so I need to figure out what that is all about...
