So I went and bought some 35" Mud Tires for my ZJ today, they had some sidewall cracking but not too bad. They were pulled off a lifted ranger. Anyway, I found out that one of the tires leaks out the sidewall cracks. I was thinking I can either get an inner tube for the tire or get it vulcanized. Problem is I dont know where to find either of those. I am going to a tractor supply store tomorrow to ask, but i have no clue where to look for vulcanizing?
Any tips greatly appreciated, I wanna save this tire before its too late.
Thanks

So they're dry rotted, and to the point of not being able to hold air? Hope you didn't pay much for them...
edit: You might want to think about a different set of tires. If one won't hold air already, they're probably close to falling apart.

I paid $235 with the crager 15 x 10 imitation beadlock rims. All hold air but one. The others are rotting too though. I thought vulcanizing can fix that? And wont an innertube take most of the pressure instead of forcing the tire to hold the air?
I would be worried about the tires seperating at any sort of speed, lots of friction and heat. Vulcanizing is basically melting the rubber back together, but its used in like a single sidewall cut instance, not the whole tire like your tires would need.
An inner tube would help a little as a band aid. If its only that one sidewall crack, it'll keep the air in, but only until the crack gets big enough for the tube to start popping out. And that could happen in a matter of a few miles, depending on how rotted that rubber is.
Sounds like good money after bad. I'd keep the wheels and unload the tires.
I wouldn't run them, too great of a risk of seperation, even with a tube. Maybe as a spare.....
I think you just got your finger's cut.....
Plus if you live in a state with inspection , sidewall cracking wont pass... do yourself a favor and go get some 35x12.50 and just use those wheels, if your low on cash try the mud king series, they just have weak sidewalls so be careful around rocks
I ended up demounting the tires and selling them back to him for $135. I paid $100 for the 4 Crager Imitation Beadlocks 15 x 8 rims. I am going to pick up some 95% tread Mickey Thompson 35" x 12.50 R15 Baja Claw Radial tires within the next week or so. Pulled off a mudding Samauri with 24 inches of lift :O
You're lucky the guy gave you something back. Just chalk it up as a lesson learned to take a good look at any (used) parts before purchasing, and do research where it is necessary before buying anything. Make sure there isn't any sign of rot or strange wear on the tires. You might even want to check the DOT code to see when they were made, as the design has been around for a while now.
It really is good to hear that the guy didn't just completely screw you over... that's pretty rare anymore.
badass i love mt claws!
Does anyone know where to get inner tubes for 35 X 13.5 R 15 tires
