I'm just courious whos doing what kind of upgrades to their GC for next years GSW?
I'm hoping to have long arms but it might be tought to get depending on tax refund check LOL.
I really want to make it out again, and maybe without having everything blow up on me...but we will see. Either way, in that time period I have my hands full lol. Raise the gas tank, truss/skid the rear axle, throw in a 242HD, rebuild sliders, maybe build a belly skid
Ya know...the easy stuff.
HP44 front diff, 5.13's, 37's and possibly more motor if the 37s kill the 5.2...
hey there I'm new to this site and I'm wondering if i can get info on next years grand slam west!
Can you let me know the details when they come together and where to register? I go to Moab a couple times every year and always by my self cause I don't know when any other Grand owners head that way! most the wheelers in this area are Toy owners!
i'm done building --> wheel, break, upgrade, repeat..
anyone from the east coast heading out? - i gotta take advantage of these gas prices
I am going to be changing quite a bit of my line up.
My 98 I am going to cut the roof off and build a new cage with some kind of top that will resemble the factory. It will have double B and C pillers that have 1/8" plat molded in between to give the jeep the look of a factory top but the strength of a buggy. For sure some new bumpers and fuel cell. Also plan on some new tires and wheels, I hate the 15" wheels and want to move up to a 17"-20" alum. And maybe some LTB's or the new 42" or 40" krawler.
On my TJ I am pretty much leaving it alone, exept for some 35" krawlers. Change the gears out to 5.13's. Add my magnaflo cat back (that I bought like two years ago and still havn't installed it) also need to install my front upper control arms... maybe some other small nit pick stuff.
My 95 ZJ will be getting eather moab's or AEV wheels and 35's, an 8.8 or 44 rear, with 4.56's and some kind of lockers... rubicon, ARB or OX. Also building a rear swingout tire carrior. I need to build a skid plate too but I want to do long arms at the same time so that may waight till next year.

I'm going to change my oil this spring, and probably try to fix my rear latch so it opens again.
I may also put together my beadlocks if I ever get bored enough to do that.
Building longarms, And thinking of converting to rear leafs.
My list...I actually need to get all this stuff done for EJS, but I want it done for GSW as well . These are the main things that I need to do.
New 17" beadlocks and new 37's
Adjust my front UCA so my pinion isn't angled down
Build new X-member and T-case skid
Relocated rear coil spring posts and shock mounts
Tie internal cage into uni-body
Headers (cracked manifold)
Possibly long arms and 4.56's, tax return dependent of course!!
I just hope it all works as planned. I'd REALLY like to have a functioning tailgate off the back, but that might entail a bit much at this point. I'll be happy with just getting the unibody reinforced after I cut out what's there and figuring out a way to keep the cab dry.
Hopefully my savings account will get an up grade so I can afford to go!
Sounds good, Dave.
I've waited on posting anything about this until I got closer to completion, but mine will have some major changes - locked D60s, Clayton's LAs, new tc & 35s on beadlocks, & a KOR rear bumper. Can't do the work here because of HOA rules, so I'm payin' for it. But since I've put this off for so long, it's be worth it to me. Should be finished in a couple of weeks.
gary
Cool stuff Gary, I'm looking forward to seeing the upgrade.
I've got all the parts I need gathered, just no frickin' time. We've got a baby girl due end of march, so time isn't going to get any better.
- Finish welding brackets on new axles (HP44/8.8)
- Install long arm kit that has been sitting in my garage since last month.
- Install 242AMG/J hybrid (assembled, just sitting on work bench)
- Put detroit in 8.8 (also sitting on work bench)
Are you guys finishing up your wrenching or just starting like me.
I'm not sure I have enough time to swap in the Rockwells with Ouverson shafts and lockers, so I might just check the air pressure in the tires.
