Well shit....you just have great luck don't ya?!
damn did you give the 5.2 the 8.8 treatment and run it out of oil too?
from what i've read online its a direct swap. Doooo it.
Yeah coolant went in and oil came out. What about electrical stuff with 5.9 swap?
Only difference are the niner options (i.e. homelink, seat heaters, memory seats). When I was getting my wiring harness ready for my 5.9 I cut all of that stuff out. Grab your FSM and get to swappin'!
That sucks. However the 5.9 swap shouldn't be that hard. All the wiring is the same. I know that the tranny is different and also so are the motor mounts. I would also try to find a wrecked 5.9 and get the computer or reflash the old one.
i think if i had someone i knew who had done it i'd be all up for it, but i dont want to make any mistakes and i dont need any more problems with my jeep for sure.
I wouldnt have expected that at around 70k. That sucks, dude.
update:
my engine was taken out, and taken apart....and they found my rearmost pass side piston broken in 10000s of pieces in my intake manifold, which was why my jeep was shaking like crazy when it was dying (like i said, a piston wasn't firing...haha). here's some pictures of what's up with it as of 12 noon this morning, should have it done wednesday.
this was found in this;
new on left, old in the crate ready to go back (probably won't take it as a core, just as parts engine so i'll get minimal refund...ghey).
and, somethings missing?
What caused the piston to shatter?
i know shit to nothing about engines, it was found in pieces inside the intake manifold is all i know.
"we've never even seen anything like this before"....from an engine shop.
"we've never even seen anything like this before"....from 4wp when i broke my ARB in 2 pieces.
i'm beginning to think that i'm a destructive person
153k miles and running strong
I would look closely at the piston pin and the piston pin bosses and examine them closely (if there is anything left). I'd suspect somehow that rod was not oiling the piston (clogged?) or something along those lines...If you still have it and check the rod bearing for that piston. See if it slipped and closed up the oil passages.
That sux. It happens though.

Nice carnage Roni, when will the jeep be up and running again?
Wednesday, but of course it snowed today, while my jeep is completely immobile...
i got my goodies from CR today, my KOR bushings should have come but the fedex people are pusses and didnt come in the snow, and ups did.
other 2 shocks are on the way, got them used from rockzj on nagca
jeep is done, but they have to test drive it and all that jazz...i actually walked in and heard them start it up for the first time with the new engine. my bushings also came in today.
its about time, so will you get to take it home today???
i should, assuming that everything is right.
i can't wait to hear what they say on their test drive with no swaybars, terrible tracbar bushings, and no dampening help from the busted shocks
Oh lord, you don't need any more bad luck, but I hope they were aware of those things so that they could take it easy on the turns and such.
well, i assume they close at 5 and i'm not on my way to go get it...so i guess i'll be getting it tomorrow...
So whats the word on it?
i've had it back for about 2 weeks i guess, i got a 10 series flowmaster and out pipe put on it so i'll pass inspection and i had to get a new o2 sensor after that. waiting on my sleeve for my KOR bushing so i can put the body mount side bushing in on the tracbar.
i've been meaning to take some pictures of my exhaust setup, but its dark already and it might snow tomorrow though so i'll have the camera out and snap some. 10 series is a drag race muffler, about 8"x8", takes up no space hardly and sounds mean as hell. a loud ass 40 series sound.
How is the rubbing in the front on the lower arms with them mounted on the frame. Can you turn lock to lock? Decided to just do my mounts on the stiffeners instead of building crossmembers and was wondering this.
computer died on it a couple weeks ago, fixed that for a solid $500 and its back in action
