    Great pics...

I love how they dont do any justice as they make winch hill look like a small incline lol.

Winch hill isn't too bad. There was an open/open TJ on 33s that made it up after a couple attempts. You just need to avoid the rocks on the right going up -- and the tree on the left (How'd that work out for ya Preppi? I really hope someone has a pic and/or video of that. I was up helping the guy that busted a u-joint, shaft, and ball joint when you climbed that tree).

HAHA. Yeah...I'm a bit wider than I'm used to so I took the same line I have the other dozen times I've been up it but since I'm wider...the driver tire caught the tree and it carried me up a good ways before I knew it. The 8th pic in my first post was caught by Shadow as I started to go up.

Winch is always fun I think. I always give it too much gas to make it a bit more exciting!

EC has it on video from the top of the hill. Hopefully I will get it from him tomorrow. I'll post it when I get it. It would be nice to see it from the side or bottom of the hill.

Going down winch isn't bad at all. Just stay to right up top and turn driver a bit once you pass the last rock...you're done. Down is super simple. The stock GSE group comes down it almost every year.

My winch...lol...yeah. I've had a bottle opener there ever since the bumper got ripped off. When my zj was parked in camp 6 and I was down at the mudbog my buddies "hooked" me up. It was funny as hell!

I'll let you figure it out...its dame sure custom!

Our trail leader on Sat did. He said it was pretty straight forward. Mildly built TJ, too, so it's not like he was in a buggy. I took the trail down around winch which is a bit more technical than the hill itself.

    Yeah, that's called the bypass.

Over the past couple years though the bypass has gotten pretty chewed up as well. Plus there's a spot at the bottom of it that makes us full body guys feel a little tipsy!

Yea, going down winch isnt bad as long as your tires bite and dont slide off the rock your driver front needs to be on, then it gets a little interesting. It was so dry this past weekend, damn

Preppi what size winch are you using?

    Are you Serious?
Ummm, If I remember correctly, It's a "parallel wound, bolt winch". it probably has a pulling capacity of a hundred pounds or so... (give or take a hundred).

Sure, mine was a joke b/c I'm one of 2 people in our group that don't have a winch so a 4 wheeler fairlead got screwed on the front bumper w/out me knowing.

I just responded to your pm fox. Check out vetteboys build on pbb. I think I remember his winch being tucked and it's documented pretty well too. It's easier to do this with a xj b/c the radiator is so small. The zj's rad is much better so going under it eats up ground clearence. Generally better to cut the grill and tuck it back into the body as much as possible for us I would think.

Oh...and yes the "winch" has been "used". The guys hooked it up when I was changing the long shaft I broke. Brought out the controller, line weight, etc. lol

is that hill steeper than it looks in the vid or does the front end of your ZJ just like to go skyward? I've never had my front end get that light before.
