I think this is another of my favorite trails. Very scenic, not horribly challenging. You could finesse a stocker up it, but it would take some work in spots. Very few poser spots.

I didn't do Radical Hill, nor did Dave/Pam, but the trip to Montezuma was nice. Super easy trail there, more like a bumpy road - a couple water crossings, 1 was up to the hubs.

    My pics are here: http://www.fp-kites.com/images/Jeep/RedCone082408/

I'll have to pick through and hotlink the good ones. At home drinking beer now, so I think I'll hold off until tomorrow to post up the ones I liked.

Well we were gonna come home and change out Pam's oil until we found out we were in a freakin tornado warning! Apparently the tornado was visible from our house, some kid running by the high school near my house was just on the news with the picture they sent in to the news.

Holy crap. I went to a VW/Audi event in the springs this morning/afternoon so I wasn't able to make it out. I also had a date earlier today. I'm definitely in on the next one!

It was another fine day in the Colorado Rockies.

Sorry Pam you had to head back earlier than planned. Hopefully the Jeep is ok.

We made it all the way through to Dillon on Norh Fork Swan er whatever that last trail link was. We are not exactly sure. We came out at the same spot as before so who cares I guess.

Red Cone is always fun. Kyle did a great job of driving most of it. Red Cones reputation is greater than its bite these days. Still one of the most scenic trails I know.

Radical Hill is still radical. Very doable trail but filled with challenges along the way. As typical there were many Mountain Goats at the top. Not sure what attracts them to that part of the trail so much but always interesting to watch them.

The kids and I enjoyed ourselves and thank you all for having us along.

I think we woulda been fine if we kept going, but when you're messing with potential internal motor issues on a DD . . . . well sometimes you just gotta call it a day!! DEFINITELY need to spend some more time up in that area! Thanks for leading the way John, and thanks for heading back with us and letting use some of your oil Jim.

I agree in not taking chances. Especially when the warning signs are there. You definately made the right call. Jim's a good guy to escort you back to town as well.

eh....we had a good time. Always love a new trail and we'll just get back up there to finish it off.

Looks like we'll just change the oil and keep an eye on it for now. Jim, Dave and I think it has something to do with the oil fairy and Obama being a commie. . .

Then again, it could have been the giant energizer bunny we saw on our way out...

Thanks for a good day all!!!!

We even saw some alien Obama skid marks on a mountain across 70 from Loveland Pass!

    Here's some of our pics.

After the "Energizer Bunny" comments in the Staging Area thread I couldn't believe it when we saw an Energizer Bunny balloon over Chatfield!

    Holy Cross in the distance??

Didn't get any after that point cuz we were too concerned with the ticking going on from the engine!

Pam, good to hear it might not be anything major.

The hi-res version of that pic looks like a photoshop too, it's weird.

Sounds like an eventful trip. Wish I could have gone, hope to make the next one. Did get the living room finally painted though (after putting it off for almost a year).

Did one of you run into a crazy kid named Ben with long hair driving a Taco? He said he "literally ran into" one of you folk...

Yep a group or two of Yotas but I do not recall one literally running into anyone.

Ah ok. Unsurprisingly it sounds like an embellished story, then. Apparently, when you guys were taking your "sweet ass" time getting up there, he said he almost ran into one of you when he wasn't paying attention.

That was before we even got on the trail.

We were airing down and we heard these squeeking Toyotas roll by - there were 5 or 6 in the group and all except one had god awful squeeking. I didn't know it was a requirement that wheeled Toyotas had to squeek.

I was wondering, "What the hell is that noise?"

They sounded like the Tiger tank scene in Saving Private Ryan.

Possible it's one of mine - my primary is hooked to my visor, but my secondary has been MIA since Moab. Almost wondering if it was somewhere on the passenger side when I had you riding bitch for 100 yards or so Dave.

I responded to his post with a description of the one I'm missing and the channel it would have been tuned to if the battery was alive.
