96-98 Grille help

Hey, just bought a grille from interstate automotive for $15 bucks to put on my 95 grand. I know people have done this so if anyone has pictures or can help me with what they fabbed up to make it work. Let me know. Thanks in advance.

it is easier to get a new one for a 93-95 than to get a whole new front clip from a 96-98ZJ

I think you need the 96-98 header panel too

Well the reason i got the 96 -98 grille is because it comes down further which will cover that ugly whole. And my bumper was made for that year. Plus it would look better. So i will see if i can fab something up, if not i will just buy i new header panel because mine is busted to shit anyway.

If you have a bumper from the same model/year as the Grill, a few well placed mounting points should make it look just fine.

Well i know it will look fine once i mount it. But thats the problem, i have yet to figure out how im going to mount it.

Im not sure how that model mounts up but with some cutting and welding i think you could use the metal behind the stock grille and easily fab up a few mounting points.

Im going to look at it today and see if i can figure something out. The difference of mounting point is that the 93-95 mounts with screws that go in through the front of the grille. The 96-98 mount from the top of the grille.

the 95 and below models are straight across under the parking lights. The 96-98 have a slight uperworb bend to them. I just bought a 97 with broke headlight and tryed to switch them of my 95. I had to change the black header piece under the lights and cut a small notch off the front to make it work. Also the bumber covers won't work ether so I just left mine off.

Well i few things have been coming up today so i still havent had time to look at it. But the more people posting up i think i will see if i can return it. See if i can find the reciept. Or anyone need a grille

The 96-98 grills mounted both from the top and bottom (Two screws on the top, two screws on the front). If you don't believe me, look!

They've also got 2 little hook/tab thingamafuckers that hold the bottom to the header panel.

Your right im wrong!! Happy ha ha. Anyway, decided to go against this plan. I was going to buy the whole front clip but its a bit expensive so im just going to return it.

Then i will take my stock one off and paint it black so i will no longer have chrome on it.

I bought a new grill for mine that was off a limited (painted) but when I got it it was actually a different color of green. I had some herculiner DIY bed liner stuff left over from doing my lower panels so I just used that on the new grill. Maybe something for you to think about too, it will be much more durable than paint

Thanks, should have said that in the first post. I will just be spray painting it with some black dupli color truck bed liner. Like you said much more durable, and no more rock chips.
