Hi,
I am looking at holding GSR on Sept. 5, 6, & 7, 2008.
Friday morning- Meet and enter the trail at Loon Lake, Try to drive to the Springs (Depends on breakage & people getting stuck) and stay.
Saturday- Rubicon Springs, Swim, Tan, Relax (Maybe a drink or two).
Sunday- Drive up and out during the afternoon.
Hope to see everyone on the trail,
Ron
We will see, Ive got Moab on my hit list, hell the room is scheduled
September....I may have to make it out that way, I've always wanted to hit the Rubicon.
It's a maybe for me, My jeep may not be itself by then...shits gettin rough.
Cool, see ya first in Moab for GSW!
Ron
Ron,
I might be able to make it, my shit should be done by then for sure.
I am also planning to ride out with AW for GSW, but would be great to take my own heep to the Con this time.
Of course time will tell.
I am in for sure. Last year when I was trying to play catch up with 6 Wranglers wasn't fun.
Hi Andy,
Yes, Grand Slams are for "Grands" only. Sorry.
I'll put it on the schedule but my 1st priority this fall is the baja 1000.
im not shure i am gona make it. as of now, i think the engine will be in the jeep at about mid april. then i have a 3K mile break in period of not being heavy on the gas, so no off-roading for me for that time.
4 months, 3k miles aint no thang.
Exactly what I was thinking you can make 3k in a few month no problem.
are their any intermediate trials on the rubicon? I dont want to bust up my daily driver yet.
What side of the lake does it enter and/or exit?
cool, i learn something new everyday.
So taking the easiest route possible what are the chances of coming out of the rubicon realtively untouched with a WJ like mine. I dont care much about the front & rear bumbers. But I'm not ready for a boulder to the quater panel or a flop.
It's all based on driver skill. I would recommend ATLEAST 33"s and being locked up on atleast one axle. Even then, no guarantees.
I would recommend a spare set of front shafts ($100-150), but alloys are $$$$ for WJ's, like 800 for a pair IIRC.
Like Jerod said, my rear bumper got THRASHED and my gas tank skid isnt too happy, but I have the flimsy 1/16" one, not the 3/16" they put on the overlands.
very good info. dont think i will be able to GSR this year because of the dates overlapping school, maybe next year.
Any predictions on when they will close the rubicon for good?
Try 4XD tank skid, pure USDA beef! Anyone know any motel info over Rubicon?
What is the city I should search under?
the closest actual place I can think of that may have somewhere to stay would be Georgetown, but I have no idea what you're gunna find there.
