Me, Pam, Corey, and Cristi are planning on heading down there next Sunday. They reopened last weekend and it's been 6 years since we've been down that way thanks to the bitch who burned down half of Colorado, so we wanna go down there and check it out. It was pretty mellow 6 years ago (I ran it stock) and apparently is still similar difficulty. We're expecting a pretty short day.

Not sure where we'll meet up yet, probably in Sedalia or Castle Rock depending if we take 25 down to the Springs and backtrack through Divide or if we head out through Deckers. With trucks and trailers it may be easier to go through Divide??

Alrighty, we're meeting up at 9AM at the McDonalds right by the Factory Shops in Castle Rock. Should be a pretty easy day. Gonna head down 25 to 24 and then cut north in Divide or Florissant (still working that part out) and then dump our trailers somewhere and head in. Should be some good fishing at the end of the trail too as it deadends at the Platte.

For those of you not familiar with the trailer, any rig on here can do it, but it is crazy scenic down there. This was one of 3 "major" trails that were lost to the Hayman Fire in 2002 and the first one to re-open. It's also the easiest of the 3 Gulches. Hackett and Longwater run parallel to Metberry to the south, with Hackett being the hardest of the 3. The most intense part of the Hayman fire was in this area so it is really quite spectacular that Metberry is open so soon. It's rumored that Longwater may open yet this year, and then Hackett is supposed to open next year.
