I think it sucks that you can't reply in a thread. There's no way of knowing what's spoken for because people rarely ever update the thread. All dealing is done via PM which doesn't draw the seller back into the thread to update it. Maybe I'm just a rabble rouser but I didn't see anything wrong with the way the forum was before.

There's a hack that we can do to auto-prune threads older than 2 weeks to help some of the "is it still available" confusion. I just haven't gotten around to doing it. And as of right now I don't have any plans on changing the setup in the FS forum. It went from something that had to be watched like a hawk to one of the easiest forums to moderate.

Why is it so hard to PM the seller? I love it, there hasn't been any BS in the for sale forum since it was done, so much nicer...

i agree i think its great, i hate on other forums will you post something for sale and some jackass comes and offers something else on your thread to people intersted in what you have
This person should be taken as seriously as a heart attack while piloting a zeppelin over a bacon factory, which is the most serious of heart attacks, because if that zeppelin crashes into that bacon factory all of us will be without bacon and that simply will not do.

Yeah, but you can't harass the seller when he doesn't put where the item's being shipped from or how much the price is. Just the other day I saw an ad for someone selling floormats for a grand cherokee, but he didn't put what year. I'm too lazy to PM him, but I'd reply to his for sale ad to remind him to put the year it was from. It was also easier the old way to tell what item's were spoken for and in what order they were. For instance if someone's parting out a vehicle it's easier to just read the thread to tell what parts are left and who's ahead of you. That way if the seller is lazy and never updates what's left on the front page you know what's still left. Poor guy's probably getting a ton of PMs too...
Just ban the people that put BTT 4 times a day on their for sale thread. As far as I know that was the only problem when it was the old way...
    Just my 2 cents....
    Thanks.

RC, there's actually a separate forum with different rules that do allow replies for vehicles being parted out for those very reasons.

If someone doesn't post a price, it gets deleted. They are also required to display their location in either their profile or the post, no location and it gets deleted. If they don't want to include details as to what years it will fit or similar things, then their item just won't sell very fast. If someone doesn't list what something fits in the newspaper, they're shit out of luck just the same.

The for sale forum by FAR took the most time to babysit out of the entire board, so Matt and I are quite happy with the way it's working.

I don't like that stupid fucking people PM me for things that are not even if my for sale thread. Just because I sell one fucking thing I must be parting a whole fucking Jeep. Then when I delete it I get another one the next day. Stupid fucking people.

It would be nice if sellers would respond or delete/edit ads if they no longer have the parts. I hate it when my PM is ignored

I personally like not having the BS that is apparent in many for sale threads. It pisses me off when people "inform" the seller that the price is too high. Just let them sell it! If it gets sold at the posted price -- it obviously wasn't too high. Just because you don't post the deal of the century doesn't mean that it's not worth that much to someone else...

It takes no longer to reply to a thread than it does to PM someone about what they have for sale, so I'm utterly confused how one could be "too lazy" to PM the seller rather than reply to the thread...

How is not allowing any replies any different than craigslist?
