    Sup guyz,

Just got off my lazy ass and started to work on the busted chp and detroit. I knew the detroit was under pressure but man that thing popped open...

    Broken tooth on the Ring

Broken inner sleeve. This thing shredded the axle shaft.

Well the bad luck continues. Took the kids to the snow and got to take the jeep through some mud and snow. Very minimal and wasnt going hard. Went over a hump of snow at maybe 5mph and slid to the right. Didnt think much of it till I got back on the pavement and my wheel was way askew.

Its Sat and its a custom rhd tre. Turns out my brother is buddies with one of the guys who work on the Jeep Jamboree Rubicon and he has all the tools to get me back on the road.

Made it the 3 hour drive back home with the kids w/o incident.

I am thinking that it may have been bad steel.

I bought that one from Morris 4x4, my second one from them, the first ones joint just went out after a couple years.

After talking to other members running same setup and having never bet one, I am thinking I will just carry a spare until I replace the front d30. Not interested in pitting more $$ into the axle anymore. I bought the next two from quadratec.

    Sup guys,

TRE is in and spare is in trunk.

Did some digging to figure out if I could swap in a larger bearing in the CHP and upgrade to 35 spline for front locker. I found the same thing Agitated found, no dice because they make two different carriers. If you have the smaller case your relegated to 33 and smaller splines. It uses the 3.062 Bearings.

The second and larger case uses 3.25 bearing and allows use of 35 & 40 spline or you can adapt it to the smaller bearings and use the 33 and down splines.

And man I gotta say that part just sucks! Especially because there is no mention of them even making 3.063 cases on the Currie website, blah. So what are your plans for that currie then?

Yeah, it is definatly not very clear. Only cuz I know there is a difference and if you notice the two differen case part numbers. Though I don't know if they ask or mention it when buying a case of the difference cuz I bought it used.

When I met the dude from south lake Tahoe and discussed my plans of the chp, he made a very good point, keep it simple. Get the 60 and make it to length and leave it alone. The currie is cool and different but the 60 is hp and super strong out if the box. A lot less work involved with swapping knuckles, and dealing w two custom shafts.

Though i will need the unibody plated due to the extra weight. I am keeping my eye open for a good deal.

Yeah I can't believe how smooth and quiet my 35" kevlars are. Coming from swampers, it was almost eerie, but I had the old style MT/R's and remember them being far louder than these. Don't start making noise until you're well, well above the legal speed limit.

    Hey all,

I have been crazy with work and family so the jeep is being neglected. But I stopped by OSH on the way home Saturday and finally installed a bracket to hold down the spare in the trunk. I know its too big to have on the roof and I wanted it to be secure in the trunk when I wheel it. I have been mulling this over in my head for a while now and it came together more or less the way I hoped. I think the next step would be to build a shelf over it so I can stack stuff on top and have a place to strap stuff like my tool box and such.

Then put a u bolt through the steel bar and cut a hole in the aluminum for it to go through.

Used the bracket from my Yakima root tire mount to hold it to the floor.
