damn........ There's no way in hell I'm going to leave that paint on there and try and let the pads peel it all off.

#1 - That would be one hell of a mess, there would be red paint flakes everwhere.
#2 - It would not look good, at all.
#3 - The only reason why it got painted the way it did was because I was drunk, and didn't have any tape to tape off what I didn't want painted.

I'm taking a wire wheel to the contact surface to remove all the paint. Drunken mistake, my bad.

Got the shafts pulled and the 44 pretty much broken down. Gonna try and pull the knuckles, ball joints, and carrier tomorrow.

I can't seem to separate one of the caliper brackets from the spindle. Just one more reason why the next tool I buy NEEDS to be a shop press.

Yeah.... I'm using the Ford radius arms. Adding extensions and using 2.5" Currie Johnny Joint ends.

Sorry for the mass update...... Just thought I'd post up what I've been up to. Sorry but I just copied and pasted the last couple of week's worth of posts. Enjoy.

Just ordered a new converter from Precision of NH:
    http://www.gopnh.com/rvtow.cfm
    $219 + $35 Core Charge.

RV/Tow Converter, 1300 RPM Stall speed. I think it's gonna go great with my 4.88 gearing. W00t w00t!

Pulled the Transfer Case, cross-member, starter, and loosened up a bunch of bolts on the tranny today.... Girlfriend has the camera, I'll upload pics later or tomorrow.

    The new TC....

The parts starting to collect at the side of the house:

Cracked open the Transfer Case to make sure everything was copacetic. The magnet was shattered into a million pieces. I'll have to grab a new on of those.... ugh.

Noticed the spot where my exhaust guy welded the hanger on, worst idea ever... Weakened the metal and blew a hole in the muffler. ugh...

And the money shots, pulled the transfer case in less than 45 minutes.

Got the Tranny unbolted and everything disconnected except for the front side cooler line. How the hell do you get that little sucker un-done? I can't get a small enough wrench in there. Pics up tomorrow.

Completely unbolted and ready to be dropped. Except for that damn tranny cooler line.

Picked up a new Rear Main Seal.... They didn't have the transmission output, or transfer case output in stock..... So another day. They look to be in good condition anyway. Rear Main was leaking just enough to piss me off....

Yeah.... I know.... I feel dumb.... Removed the little clip and the line just pulled straight out.

    What I did today.

The Tranny was a complete PITFA to wiggle off the back of the engine block.

So many wires!!!! Where do they all go!!!

Got the transmission bolted back up. What a MFPITFA... I'm never doing that again. No fun, and it's rediculously difficult to do when you don't have a tranny jack. Found out that I broke the CPS when we pulled the tranny yesterday. Bent a cooler line today while putting it back in. Gotta fix the O2 sensor, stripped part of the wiring. Hmmm... What else did I break....

Gotta torque down the Converter bolts, bolt up the dust shield, starter, transfer Case, new crossmember, and pick up the new TC magnet tomorrow.

I'm paying someone to do this for me next time. Would have been worth every penny. But, hey, you live and learn.

Oh, and btw.... Yes, I did it all with no shoes on.

Put the dipstick back in, put the Transfer case back together and back in, painted and put together the new crossmember. Gotta connect all the wires and cables sometime this weekend, fill it up, bolt back up the starter, bolt down the Torque converter, cause I'm having trouble turning the engine over, and bolt up the dust shield. Yikes.....

Oh.... Gotta pick up a new CPS sometime this weekend.... Cause we all know I'm going nowhere without one of those. I also have to work about 24 hours in the next two days.... And drive back to school on Sunday night.... I don't know how all this is going to happen.

It's finally moving again under it's own power. Need to weld on some new hanger brackets for the exhaust, it's banging on the crossmember when I go over bumps. Still gotta go pick up some DOM and make the front arms. I'm gonna go pick up some Chevy 1-ton tie rod ends and fab up some steering for the front end. It's gettin close fellas...... There'll be a mass upload soon enough.

Damn! If I would have done all that in my apt complex, they would have kicked me out and found some sort of damages and or violations to fine me for after making me homeless. Keep us updated on the Heep man.

I'm confused! People start build threads and half way through either they give up on the heep or just vanish? So how many half finished ZJ's are out there?
