It started at Christmas, finally in with 4.88. Would have been sooner but had to install Rusty's LA's due to the stock LCA bracket ripping off from the frame.
looks good
the brake hardline/flex line mount looks kinda wierd. how fast is it off the like with 4.88 and 31's
Not very, dosen't even seem like I changed from 3.73 to 4.88 off the line. But I haven't hammered it yet. Gotta break the gears in. And yea, I have to work on the brake lines, looks kinda tacky to me also, but then again flat black paint will cover that up.
it looks like it would be a pita to take out the springs with the brackets right there, thats all
Thats actually where the originals mount.
why the loop in the hardline?
Its to long. I was testing a theory, seeing if the D35 stuff swapped over. I measured the ID where the brake line attaches to the caliper, both (Ford/Jeep)are .380. Still puzzles me how much brakeline is left over from the D35. I have to go get some shorter lines to put on.
Thats weird, when i did my 8.8 swap i used the brake lines from the D35 and it worked out fine with no extra line.
Your running 4.88's in a D30? Why?
Dude 3/16" hardline is like a buck a foot at Napa....
Sorry not all of us can afford to put 8 miles of tubing and one tons under are shit.
And what is wrong with Rusty's, everyone has their own opinion.
This is a 8.8 post not a debate about which lift kit is better. Kinda like why didn't I just go with 404 Mogs . Hmmmmmmmm. I agree the LP D30 is not really good with the 33's (after the 31's get worn a bit more) and 4.88 but it works for now. I'm at least going to a HP 30 later with chromo axles. This is a build in progress as the wife won't open up the check book for everything up front. She does let it trickle out though.
4.88s aren't much worse than 4.56s. I think your thinking of the old 4.88s when they first came out and had a really small contact spot. It's a none issue with the cut they do on them now.
And if it blows.. oh well. 2 years running on Q78 TSLs and no damage to the locked D30 yet.

The old 4.88s and the new ones?
The gears are cut differently.
Chad's hardcore. He's wheeled at least 5 times in the last 3 years
5 times in the last 3 years ahaha pretty hardcore
What style drive shaft are you running? Any high speed harmonic noise?
