Did you have your axles built? I thought you were doin them
well I was in the process of building some when the shop that did all the work to my jeep happened to have built some axles for another guy with a WJ, that guy ended up selling his jeep and returning the brand new axles so I am getting them for about what it would cost to build my own.
so how much for that old 9 ??
it is a bare housing ready for brackets and I have the 3rd member and shafts but no brakes, they had to be cut off due to it sitting outside for so long, but since you are local I would take $100 for it and if you want it once I get my jeep back together i can meet you somewhere if you would like.
What are your transfer case plans after the axle swap? Are you going with a new case, new mainshaft in your current case, or do you have another plan to pick up a speed signal?
What was the axle pulled from?
got the dana 44hp in today, still need to push the front end out a little and adjust the track bar, but I had to put the tires on to see what 37''s look like. I will be putting in the 9'' in the morning and rolling it out of the garage. I still need to have new front brake lines built, trim the fenders, and maybe extend the rear brake lines a little.
Very nice man. Lets get together, drink some beers and have a fender trimmin partay..
i got it all done. I need to get steering stabilizer, and some sway bar studs, but other than that there she is the first pics in daylight with her new legs.
so
I like
Damn!! looking good.
I wont lie... I'm jealous...
looks great man ,
hp 44s and ford 9"s from the late 70s 1/2 ton fords are the perfect axles for a WJ i think
Looks great, good job man
hey thanks guys, next on the list is raising the gas tank. any pointers is cool any mistakes you might of made along the way cause this is the first time for everything for me, so far I have just been learning as I go on my own.
very nice!
Cut out the old spare tire recess, cut the skid plate around 6" and tuck it all up nice and tight. I used some 3" tube in the frame rail to run the gas lines through. Oh, and weld up some tabs around the floor cutout. Drill matching holes to the new "floor" that you put in the rear. Bolt the new "floor" to the tabs so you can have some easy access to the fuel pump. The rear portion of the WJ's body flexes a bit more now, (lost stx'l integrity from removing the floor) but I can live with it. Maybe some bracing could help yours.
thanks I will keep that in mind when I do it, maybe some frame stiffeners in the back. plus a few bars across the hole and only a little door in the center to get to the fuel pump.
ya that was right after I hooked it up I adjusted the upper arms and straightened it all out,
