I'm planning to fabricate a custom adj Trac bar to replace the stocker and improve axle centering. Initally I was going to copy kevin's HD bracket and Pivoting design, this seems to be a proven setup. Then I saw this:
This is on TnT custom's prototype developpment ZJ.
This design seems strong, more simple without the bends in the trac bar. And would reduce Trac bar angle. Any thoughts on this?
Can anyone think of drawbacks of this design vs kevins or similar?
Anyone have some experience with this design or heard about how it performs?
TnT can get away with that because of the lift height of their long arm.
I don't think that will work on your short arm'd ZJ.
Using the stock bracket (axle side) I would think that without a bend in the t-bar that it would hit the bracket. If you had a customer bracket then you could probably get by with it from first glance. But maybe ilikemud has a point with the arms but I'm not quite understanding it...but again I've been drinking already.
I'm in no means an expert on long arms.
I know that the bend is in the bar to clear the oil pan but that might change with a LA lift of 7".
The bend in the bar is to clear the pumpkin
I have that set up on mine, works great! (T&T long arms)
And the ZJ shown (Bob's) is on short arms still.
I'm using a custom trac bar just like that aand it mounts where the steering stabilizer used to attached to, its been beefed up though. as soon as I get my over the knuckle steering, the angles of the trac bar and drag link should be almost perfectly parallel. and I have zero clearance problems at 4" of lift and short arms and nothing but stock bumpstops.
since you're looking to build your own trac bar and mount spidertrax has these cool misalignment tabs for use with heims. here's the link:

I'm using the mst-006,
That trackbar design has nothing to do with control arms, short or long fellas. Look at the steering. That is our OTK (Over The Knuckle) steering system. Since the draglink to tie rod attachment point raised higher in the chassis the axle end of the trackbar also was raised to match to prevent bumpsteer. With the angle of that photo it doesn't look like it, but the trackbar and draglink do run parrallel.
BTW, those are production parts. We also have a trackbar that works with the stock steering setup as well.
Bob
Ah, Now I get it.
I should have known that.
