Click for full size..

The helmet was around $250 and the magnifying lens $10.

It comes with three outer sheilds and in three different color options..

Sensitivity and delay are adjustable. The sensor has two settings.. Wide and narrow angle.

It has DIN 5-9 and DIN 9-13 settings.. It also has the grind button which locks in a no 4 and has a internal LED to remind you.

The little box sitting on the 1/4" ratchet head is a 2.5x lens that can be swapped for the inner sheild. There are more options than just a 2.5x like a 1.5x and a 2x...

Its the Satellite OSE

OMFG I have used it a time or two already. It rocks and the 2.5x cheater lens is awesome for precision work on smaller pieces..

This book was pretty kick ass too.

I also have got some decent deals on Ebay lately..

Snap on metric impact swivel sockets.. Barely used for less than 1/2 the truck price.

Snap on 3/8 drive 200-1000 in. lb.. This thing is a virgin.
I got it for ~$90!

I am in the middle of reorganizing my home shop box. This foam I got from a foam rubber store is the same stuff as we run in the toolboxes at the hangar. Looks dark black in real life w/o the flash...

Its every box end and every 6pt combination wrench that craftsman makes.. I also have both the SAE and MM craftsman professional flare nut wrenches.

I am working in getting a SAE set of the alden wrenches.. For lines I have found them to be a nice companion to the flarenut wrenches.. Break or make torque with the flare nut and run the majority of the turns between with the alden open end ratchets.

With things like ratchets, tq wrenches and anything else complicated and of more critical precision I go with alot higher quality than craftsman.. I'm just not picky about wrenches.. I have yet to break one of these. When running a impact I do also backup the bolt head with another impact socket on a breaker bar as opposed to a wrench.. I have seen ppl break even snappy wrenches this way..

I am also looking at WIHA tools online store at their screw drivers and nut drivers.. They are awesome and affordable esp if you catch a online special. http://www.wihatools.com/

That torque wrench looks like one I sold on eBay not long ago. I had a couple extra I put up on there.

When I have some spare time and motivation I need to pull some of the lesser used tools from my big tool box and put them in a smaller one I got not too long ago.
My main tool box is a 40" Snap On top and bottom and it's pretty much packed to the gills, plus I have tools thrown on shelves and benches that have no home. My friends say I have a tool fetish. haha.

Right now I just have tracking #'s... Just won the auction on the 1st.

I also picked up a MAC stubby 3/8 gearless ratchet.. It has a close tolerance roller sprag system instead of teeth.. A 10* swing spins the fastener like 99% of 10*.. Many other ratchets have 10* of slop.

I read this some time ago and found a decent price.

I also got a nice used snap on TE175http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/OBJECTS/33200/33134.JPG
$50 mint condition.. Better than the $250 off the truck.

I have recieved the 3/8" click type torque wrench..

I'll see the TE175 monday..

It was as nice as the pictures and mint.. It specs out fine according to the guy that checks our wrenches at the hangar..

I also recieved the MAC gearless ratchet.. It was nice.. It truely has little to no backlash.. From coast to drive is slop free in either direction..

I slicked it up a bit by polishing the cam inside the ratchet lightly with some 1000 wet then using fine metal polish in place of grease. Assembled and spun the ratchet for a while in either direction..

I then cleaned it out and greased it with some synthetic grease..

Holy moly.. It was nice before now it is awesome.. It still locks up as quick in the drive direction but now it spins freely like it has a set of roller bearings instead of a sprag!

The 3/8 impact swivels are nice and still fit a bolt tight even though they have some (little) use.. I picked up some more goods on ebay too and waiting on finals on others. Like a bunch of vise grips/Mac (logo) welding clamps. Snap on 3/8" dive impact deep well stuff etc..

If you are wise to ebay tips and tricks and know your tools you can save huge $ over the tool truck guy..

I too keep an eye on ebay, just picked up a new Sanp on 3/8" dial in. pound torque wrench for like $76 shipped.

You can get some great deals there, just need to know what you are looking for and don't get emotional bidding or you can end up paying MORE than the truck prices.

I have a whole toolbox full of Snap On tools bought on eBay. Most of the items I have bought, I have gotten in new, or near new condition, and my own rule is to try to not exceed 50% of list price for anything. Many items I've paid much less. Some items are hard to get a deal on...for some silly reason hammers tend to go for very close to list when you figure in postage; so buy those off the truck. Also, pliers tend to get higher prices if in new condition but they are a wear-and-tear item....who wants a linemans pliers that have damaged jaws. Another recommendation I would make is to try to only buy current logo items. If you ever need to replace a socket or a wrench, you will get the new style; if you have an older set, they will not match. Snap On has changed their socket/wrench design and logos a number of times in the past, so if you have a choice, get the new logo stuff; there does not seem to be a whole lot of price difference.

One of the best deals you can find on eBay is for Snap On or Mac toolboxes. I paid about 15% of list for mine, and the funny thing was that the previous owner had lost the keys, and one bank was locked. When I got the keys from Snap On I found a few bonus tools inside. Since the tool boxes are almost impossible to ship, the market for a seller is really limited to local buyers. Make sure you search for "Tool Box" and "Toolbox" if you're interested.

A couple of items I've gotten were damaged....a screwdriver with a broken tip, a ratched that didn't ratchet smoothly....all quickly replaced for free off the local truck.

I deal with Snap On day to day for work and I hate them!

So hard to replace tools it's unreal. I have a torque wrench and hammer handle I've been waiting on parts since April. Screwdrivers that never showed up, and the rep claiming I never gave them to him.

With Matco, just log on the web, they ship a new tool to you, you ship the old broken one back. No charge, no hassles.

I guess that's the problem with a franchise based truck distribution system. My local Snap On guy has always provided good service, even though I have not been a huge customer, (since 98% of the stuff I've bought has been from eBay). Unfortunatley, you don't get a choice on who to buy from...they have their territories. But Snap On does have an on-line store and customer service; but I've never tried to replace a tool there.

I haven't even seen a Snap On truck around my parts. Personally, I think Snap On charges way too much for their tools and their quality has gone downhill in the last ten years. Seems that they're still riding the brand-name loyalty game and have many professionals in permanent debt trying to buy their shit. I know a couple of mechanics that have been buying Craftsman Professional hand tools and swear by them. Then again, I know guys who love their Home Depot/Lowes wrenches too...

ProjectZJOM617T - if you think you have all the Craftsman wrenches, then I guess I shouldn't tell you about their industrial catalog that carries some that aren't available at the local stores.

I guess to each his own. There's no question that they give easy credit and suck in a lot of mechanics. They use third party leasing schemes, so if a piece of equipment turns out to be a POS, the mechanic has no recourse against Snap On. A tech I know bought a Snap On alignment machine (~$35k). The thing doesn't stay in calibration more than a few days. He's been counting the days until he has the thing paid off so he can afford to buy a Hunter. He has failed at legal action because they come promptly to fix it every time it stops working...but the machine is a POS. And anyone who pays list price well into five figures for one of their large tool boxes is nuts. But I still like their hand tools the best. I like Facom too, but I don't like buying French products.

By the way, for all you Snap On haters, I'll buy any Snap on (or Mac) tools you don't want. Just don't expect to come out whole considering the sick price you paid for it! My teenage son has a business buying/selling used Snap On stuff.

Actually 99% of the tools I deal with are Snap On. I am in charge of all the tools at work, I would guess well into $300,000 worth.

I have a small amount of Snap On stuff at home, same at Mat Co. Most of my stuff is Craftsman though. I worked at Sears for a while and got 25% off on the tools, so it only made sense.

Sometimes I think I should get a part time job at Sears just to help me out with my tool collection.

The discounts when I worked there (2000-2002) were only 10%, not worth putting up with the crap that company pulls on their employees.

It's 10% for all the stuff, but I worked in the shop and got another 15% (manager had to sign a paper) for tools.

I haven't worked at Sears for almost 2 years and I still have the associates card and it still works. :D

I have a craftsman industrial (now called professional) roll cab and chest. Its great. I got it used for ~$400 and it is made by waterloo like all the craftsman boxes. It is the same as the waterloo magnum series for the year it was produced.. It is the same dimensions and construction as the current waterloo magnum series just with craftsman "industrial" logos and the locks off to the right instead of center on the new waterloo magnums.. Other than that I find it to be as good or better in some areas than the mac/matco/snap-on boxes of friends and coworkers it has been parked next to... Esp when I tell them I payed about 1/2 of what they payed for a side cabinet add on for the whole thing...

Some tools are rebranded.. Look at a snap-on RTD-48 rethreading die set and a craftsman 48 piece..

Both made by Waterloo...

I have snap on and mac ratchets... TQ wrenches are all used but in spec (tested none needed recal) snap on... All my air tools are Ingersol Rand... Alot of tool truck air tool stuff is rebaged ingersol rand...

Impact sockets are a mix of sets from new IR, used MAC and used snap-on...

I just got a stack of new mac rebranded welding vice grips for less than 1/2 of the list for vice grips with just the vice grips brand...

I have seen the same exact extractor set I have on 4 different brand of tool trucks..

http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/OBJECTS/20900/20866.JPG

The matco guy was the lowest and all sets had identically MFG'd and marked components...

It's not so much who its sold by but who and how its made...

For another good buy check out WIHA tools.. and the nutdriver sets I have in another thread.. NICE... I know what brand of big screwdriver set I'm getting now... WIHA.. Nice tools from the duetchland...
